i had my braces done this morning but they really hurt now what else can i do. i have had paracetamol. i cant sleep because of it :( what do i do ?

I've had my braces for about a year now, and it did hurt when I got them on.. I had paracetamol, that helped a little bit :)

Not much else you can do really, but the pain should go in a day or 2.

I had mi braces put on erm...7th january dis year (2days b4 me birthday :( )
the worst thing i found at first woz mi front teeth felt so like numb and arkward. also wen u like spat out in the sink wen brushing ya teeth it felt like the whole brace wud come out too.
the onli cure i think for pain wid ya brace is 2 forget about it, i no it sounds hard at the time like 'how am i supose 2 forget about it' but seriously 1 week on and it feels like you've had them all your life! and think to the future wot having the brace will mean to your teeth ;)
it'll get better, trust me ;)

That's good, spagetti on bread is good, oranges, when I tried to eat things, I'd su.ck them and swallow, instead of chewing, you'd be amazed at how many things you can simply swallow, although it's probably not very good for you, lol.

Soup, I hate soup, but that's a brilliant thing for when you have braces, I love mash potato, and that's another brilliant food.
Basically think of all the things you would feed a baby...

Yeah, eat what Aimee said, and also when I first got mine on I could eat most stuff as long as it wasn't crunchy, I just sort of chewed with my back teeth lol it's the front ones that are really painful :p

I used to choke alot when I first got my braces, I'd buy sweets and swallow them whole, I just couldn't go long enough without sweets. :'(

I've never had braces but my friends use to have them. They used bonjela its like a numbing gel that you put on your gums and teeth. They said it really helps :]

basically, take what you take for 2 days..
eat stuff that won't hurt your teeth, and they are VERY tender.
dont chew on stuff to hard.

Yeah that was the wrost. I couldn't eat anything hard. As for the cuts, don't worry once you get use to them you won't get them as much. Oh and always tell them if somethign is sticking out when you get them fixed or or will bothor the hell out of you until your next visit

Go on this forum and spam. The pain wil slowly go away. And after that you have to wear retainers which I'm doing right now. They're much better than braces.

I don't have braces but if you eat a lot of soft food and keep off the chewinggum and chocolate i think that might help :)

Lol well mine are coming off in a week and a bit :D the brace itself aint that bad if you have to have elastics thats when the pain starts!

You know when you get cuts on the sides of your mouth, once they healed on my mouth, I had lumps there, I still have them, they don't hurt, but I can feel them with my touge.

I got mine about a month ago. Just a quick suggjestion, On the second day dont try and cut the wire with a knife, you'll scream and cut your gums and your lip (tried it :eusa_wall ). They're fine now though..

Why would you cut the wires? Cutting the wires would ruin the whole thing and you could end up as Buckfaced Bikez(see the alliteration? or was it assonance?)

I used to have braces, I just used to take lots of painkillers and eat soup for the first few days. I hope you feel better soon.

i had my braces out friday i had them for 2 years after day 2 they stop hurting :-0

thank goodness braces are over for me :eusa_pray well they werent that bad, unless I got them tightened. after tightenings, I couldnt chew anything, if my teeth accidently bumped each other i would be in so much pain, and there was always this numb pain. But after tightenings, it can be ok, except that you cant eat certain things like gum, but everyone breaks that rule :eusa_shif

After you get them off though, you can tell the difference in your teeth. They feel really smooth and weird immediately after taking them off.

The first week, they hurt like hell, and they after that, they just get numb. When they get tightened, they hurt for a day or two.

One thing to remember, is to cooperate with the orthadontist. Open wide, and do what they say, because its worse if you struggle.

Well, i have them all the way round on top and Bottom set of teeth, they felt Numb for a few days and were Rubbing against the inside of my Lip, Iv'e got them on for about another 5 Months :( lol But when the Treatment is all finished it is well worth the time and pain ;) My Teeth are straight now but i still have to have them on for another few months..

Also i 1st got my brace, it kained, my mouth hurt, and i couldn't eat properally and i constantly had a headache, i didn't take any tablets though lol and i just stuck through it and it's hard to eat i would say for the 1st week but it'll get so much better don't worry in 2 weeks time you will barley notice it's even there.

So just bare the headaches and the pain and it should get better ^.^ <3

I had mine taken off over a year ago now and at the time i was a little annoyed having to wear them ( i had them on almost 2 years!!!) but the day i got them taken off was soooo amazing, its one of the best things you can do. Seeing these big, pearly straight teeth gives you the best smile :-) It doesnt hurt actually having braces put on or taken off. The only thing which hurts is the soreness you described after having braces put on which lasts a day or two. When you have the brace altered every 6 weeks or so, that can sometimes feel the a little uncomfotable too (but they often only alter a tiny part at a time so you can still eat like normal on the other side).

My advice: (hehehe i like being an agony aunt)
- take paracetamol and a bottle of water with you to the dentist for after they've tightened it.
- i used to cut up my food into small pieces and eat soft food like pasta when it was sore.
- always remember how fabulous they're going to look once its over, it might seem annyoing for the next year or so, but you'll have great teeth for the rest of your life :-)

Hey i have had braces now for 3 years o.O yeh ne ways to tell you the the truth I heard that putting rum on your gums and teeth just rub some on really helps.. they do that sometimes to babies that are teething... yeh ne ways the pain lasted me about a week er so it gets less n less everyday... for the first couple times u get them tightened you are going to have a rough time. This is because you just got the on and your teeth are still getting used to them and when u get them tightened yur teeth move and stuff and it hurts just take some advil er something... it should help... also a good idea for the first few days and when your teeth are hurting is to eat soft things and stuff like soup and jellow because you dont want your teeth to move anymore and mess up what the braces are doing.. just while your gums are still sore and everything.. well Good Luck!!

2 of my best friends had braces around the same time, one of them kept moaning about them and she " couldn't talk " but she got used to them! I'm not sure what to use to stop them hurting, are they digging in your gums? Because my friends got these wax strips to stop them from hurting!
Anyway, they both have the braces off now, and their teeth look amazing! The only down side is they have to wear retainers EVERY night!

Injection dosent hurt, but the fear of it is the worst.

theres a big gap where they pulled my teeth out, there is a rubber band or summin there. and i cant help fiddling with it. i use my toungue to fiddle with it. i really cant help it :( what can i do. the strain is too hard...
