Is there really any need for them?
They seem to cause a lot more trouble than help really. The Gay one seems pointless, just because someones gay/bisexual/lesbian doesn't really mean they should get treated any differently - sure they have a few different problems to people who are straight, but they're not actually as big as they make out.. It could easily just be posted in 'Relationships' category. The Straight one seems even more pointless really :s because the majority of the world, let alone the forum - are straight, so there isn't really need for any discussion or what not in that section.
Imo it would just be better & easier to have a forum called 'Relationships & Advice' or something, then it covers a wider area and no one can moan.

I remember ages ago when the 'Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual Chat' was made, and then the Straight people moaned more because they didn't get a section.. Which really was pointless in the first place. Having a totally different section to talk about problems for the minority of people seems stupid, Gay/Bi/Lesbian people moan they're treated different to others, well giving them this subforum is treating them differently too

True, but I suppose they made it because [I dont want this to sound bad] but there with the same kind of people :S They proberly thought they feel better talking about it in a community of people that are like them.

I know what you mean, I'm gay myself but I just don't see there any real need for it.
I guess I'll have to wait and see what upper management say or whatever, nothing will get done but no harm expressing ideas x]

True.
I just think anybody saying 'I dont like gays or bi' or 'I dont like straights' should be banned, it is just as bad as saying 'I dont like black or white people'

Yeah, but then you get people who are like "Oh but they're expressing their opinion and stuff" - Well yeah, yeah can do that but when they are doing it just to offend/upset others as it may do then it's a bit out of order really.

Yeh, if they have an opinion like that, it should be kept to themselfs, or not express it to the whole forum anyway.

i think the subforums do segregate things, maybe everything should be the same..

I agree with spat, just because you are straight/gay/lesbian/bi-sexual you should get treated any differently, i think there should just be a relationships forum where everybody can disscuss their problems together dispite their sexuality.

I don't agree with you, to be honest. They are sub forums so they're not exactly the most noticed forums, besides - you can't expect there not to be troublesome threads in there seeing as I'm sure you know, there are alot of shallow-minded idiots on this forum who yeah, feel that gay's shouldn't be treated "specially" when we're not.
We're not being specially just because we have our forum, that's like saying runescape players are being treated specially seeing as they have more than one. We should be allowed to have our own forum seeing as lot's of people feel the need to discuss their sexuality there, and it's easier than having the straight/gay forums combined because that would cause even more problems/arguments and disagreements.
So yeah, THIS DIVA DISAGREE'S.

This is an excellent post. In a perfect world nobody would have any prejudices
but unfortunately it is not and I see examples of it everyday on here which are contained as much as possible by the mods. Also it is a very valid comment that there are lots of speciality forums and agree that this forum is as valid as any of the others. Well done for this post. :D

I guess, but in the long run it seems to be it isn't worth it - they don't get used that often either.
I reckon they're a pretty good idea tbh, because straight people and bi/lesbian/gay have different issues and different problems.
True they aint the most used forums but they are still used so there is a need for them =)

I agree with you benji.
And to the above posted, whats stopping a straight person from looking in to the gay forum and see what you posted?
I posted a point who cares how I wrote it.. and it gives it a little bit more privacy...

When they first introduced it i was one of the many who maoned, that the two forums were both pointless and stupid, and that it should be left as one single forum, its all the same topic, and seperating people doesnt exsactly add any advantages at all o.0
For once I agree with you.
Your bound to :l as anything Im against... your for.

No, not really :s
The way you posted just proved to everyone you are a complete moron, I posted the thread saying I don't think they should exist, then you posted saying you think they should - if anyone, shouldn't I be the person saying that, no?
Nice idea Ben! I agree, they're rarely used anyway it's just another way to say 'ew ur gay dnt use this forum use ur one down the bottom' so yeah. I agree. spat for president. hehe!

One of the reasons that we have a Gay / Lesbian / Bisexual Chat subforum is so that there is a place where members can feel comfortable about posting about gay related issues, and to share experiences and advice with each other.
I think this would be harder if there only existed a forum for both gay and straight chat.
[Itdoesn't exactly make a difference, I agree with sierk 110%

Reminds me off the whole thing in America over the buses where black people had to sit at the front. Segregation.
I don't see it as trying to make on or the other feel special, it's just for people to find what thread they want easier. Like if someone wants to read straight threads, it'll be easier clicking the straight forum. Gay threads, gay forum. Just easier access.

The relationships forum itself or original the gay chat or what ever forum was only created due to the massive amount of homosexual themed topics in disccusss anything? so i dont really think that holds at all true.
