You don't know that, infact you don't know ANYTHING that is going on in that department now, yes you used to work for them, but do you now? No. Well then, hush.

Only way you can comment if he is a good manager or not is after you've given him chance to settle in, see if any changes/what changes will come etc.

Ymo is a good guy but Management will overrule Ymo on things, I can't see Sam lasting long as Sam doesn't take any crap.

Management needs someone who loves them.
