Hey guys,

I am fairly new to this site so let me apoligise if I post anything in the incorrect place or use a symbol wrong etc etc.

I own a company called Thurlow Media which is a media company specialising in providing news to teens. We are establishing ourselves via publication but I am now looking to go online.
I need someone to work with me closely in producing a website which can maintain newstories (similar to the concept of, dare I say it, SharpeNews).

If you're up for the job please post something on this forum (maybe a bit about yourself, why you would be good, examples) and we can go from there. This will be a paid job but no fee is set in stone for the moment. To clarify it would be £100+ though (cos I know some people on here ask for people to do work for £3).

Best,

Tom :D

If you told us more about the 'company' then I'm sure you would draw a lot of members. At the moment it just seems to be a copy of Nick's website? And to be honest, every website needs to differ otherwise they will go to the most popular website.

Fill us in on more details about what the website will provide us (the developers) and the viewers.

Thanks,
Craig Embleton.

Hi Craig,

May I just say that long before SharpeNews was created, News sites have been around for ages. What had they done which was new? As for your statement about people going to the most popular site that's up for debate. Google is the most popular search engine but it isn't the only one used. Yahoo, Ask, MSN have all got search engines which draw in millions of users.

My company is a professional operation looking to go into this market. My method of attracting members will be completely different as money is being injected into advertising once it is created.

I hope this answers your questions.. (just after a nifty developer really)

I've been in this market for much longer just not online. Is it illegal for me to now want an online presence? Are you not able to help Xeoro?

I fail to see, if you have been in this market for a long time, why you believe you will find individuals that are skilled enough to provide what you are looking at on this forum. Its designed for 13-18 year olds. Fair enough their are talented individuals on here. I just feel you would be better off looking for web developers on a well established forum such as :

http://talkfreelance.com

Kind regards,

Hi Richard,

I'm 17 myself and I am just giving other people my age the chance to shine. I have already contacted 'professional' web designers about creating this site, but I thought it would be nice to post the ad on here as well just incase I can find a teen who is equally capable of doing the job. I firmly believe in enterprise in kids and there's no harm in me trying to push some work over here I thought.

Best,

Tom

Forgive me if this isn't true, but is the reason you didn't go with the 'professionals' because of cost?
I believe you could find someone skilled enough for the job on here, but you will likely go through many candidates with low skills, no examples who have applied simply for the payment of the job. If someone gets £3 here it is like "Wooo brill". The money you're offering is a substantial amount to most people on this forum.
You may find this totally contradicting but I suppose I may aswell have a shot at winning the contract.
I have a portfolio which is viewable at www.richard74.com

Thanks,
Richard

Richard,

Cost is always an issue but to be perfectly honest some of the work on here has impressed me which was why I was curious to try and point some of the talent my way.

And I do recognise your website and I do like it so I would love to have a chat with you and see if you can help me :D Please drop me your addy and I'll add you.

Hey, thanks for that Tom.

I would love to be a volenteer. Many people on here would turn away and start shouting with guns blazing. I take into account that you are serious and I wish to pledge some skills your way. I will be recieving my laptop soon, and once I do recieve it, I will use my skills to assist/improve your website upon approval.

Thank you for your time in reading this, and if you do agree with me helping, please send me a PM concluding your MSN. Kind regards,

Craig Embleton.

Hello Tom,

I have been coding for some time (MySQL, PHP, XHTML) now and have owned a number of respectibly popular sites. I am interested in coding the site for you but I wont be able to start for about 1-2 weeks as I am currently in the coding the user system and backend of my site Uploadz.co.uk, that gets around 1500 uniques per day. Please send me your MSN ;)

If you have a good idea of what you want, i may be able to help.

Ive got quite a bit of experience in creating interactive websites, from building content management / news systems from the ground up, as well as creating accessible interfaces and easy manageable backend coding for uses of a variety of levels.
My skills set includes fully complaint xhtml/css/javascript as well as a strong working knowledge of php/mysql and a number of techniques which involve both such as AJAX or DHTML, which can optimize bandwidth usage as well as make web based interfaces feel more responsive to its uses.
