I have been here quite a while and have seen many changes,

I feel Habbox has got the look and everything they need to make it work perfectly.

Habbox don't use many plugins due to security reasons I believe, of course Arcade and userranks being one.

I think it would make it look tacky and unHabbox.

This forum isn't just for Habbo, there are other people who come here who don't care about Habbo.

Theres actually a security reason as to why we do not use badges/awards
From what i have heard it would require a hack/plugin that would leave HxF vulnerable to attacks
Thats just from what ive heard though ;)

Had a quick browse and heres a nifty quote from Jin that explains it quite technically ;)

Hacks can often cause closed security loop holes in vBulletin to re-open and even create new ones.

Because without spending stupid amounts of time checking through PHP code no one at Habbox can be bothered to try and discover security flaws in codes.

We tend not to use them especially the more complex ones which uses the database because in some cases it can be used against the forum by injecting SQL which could corrupt, delete or even give admin access to the forum.

The badges have come up time and time again, the forum would indeed look tacky with them and it would also mean we would probably need to hire an Administrator alone to deal with adding badges etc.

Plus, the badges system may well create secruity problems, which we don't want.

User ranks is not a plugin (if that is what you were implying :)). I am also not sure what the awards plugin would bring into Habbox Forum.

Yes you made the statement just after I planned on doing it lol :p. I was going to do it earlier but coursework deadline tomorrow kicked that plan off the table ;).

Also @peguin's suggestion. Habbox UK Forum has way too many admins as it is, no need to hire more to do a small job that nearly any other admin can do. And plus its not a demanding task. An update every now and then is more than enough ;).

Ah, i see fair enough then.

Oh && Jake if your suggesting like .Ca or the .Us forum have this special staff member then yeah they can as its a small community and hardly any risk where as .UK has a very large community and is too much of a risk for any one to take upon and it really falls under the Forum Manager's job tbh, and as Mr. Mad said its not a demanding task, every so often one or two updates keeps teh VIP's happy.! till they get bored of the games.

Yes however you need access to ftp or cpanel at least, which im unsure if Habbox give out to anyone but forum manager.

Tho im unsure, but good point.

Not really. VIP editors deal with making sure the VIPs get what they pay for. VIPs pay for an arcade and they are getting that. We have not said in the feature list "a new game every week in the arcade". If that was the case, then it may fall under their list of jobs :p.

International Habbox's also aren't as threatened in terms of security so can afford the risk of giving another person FTP access to the site ;)

Anyway, its not really necessary to have the hack, just because ClubHabbo has it doesn't mean we have to go running off to install it and cause potential safety flaws just to imitate CH :P
