I'll tell everyone one thing, that is, don't scam, and don't be scammed (if only it was as simple as everyone following those two rules). I'm no Saint, I once scammed an innocent person on habbo using a keylogger and have never forgiven myself.
If you have a soul you won't forgive yourself, there's scamming and then there's destroying part of someone's life, my crime felt into the latter category.
After reading so much about hacking, scripting and scamming on habbo, and being scammed once myself I looked into purchasing a remote keylogger, which I did.
I then scoured the Welcome Lounge on habbo.co.uk and found an innocent guy, I promised him free credits and furni without needing his pass. He gave me his msn account (we said msm to get around the filter) and I named the keylogger *Removed* and concealed it within a *Removed*I sent it to him, he ran it and within a few days I had stolen his furni and destroyed his life. I felt so disgusted with myself, I had the problem most people have, they can never see themselves as being as bad as the 'other scammers', they always have an excuse. Let me tell you, there is no excuse for scamming. There was no excuse when I did it, there was no excuse when it was done to me. It's filled with malice of greed.
I have laid awake nights crying, I eventually returned it all to him, by a generous donation I secretly left in his room, after plundering his entire account and landing him with a 48 hour ban.
I sit and wonder, what would have happened if I had have took his furni and he had been banned permanently for my crimes. I could never have made good on what I did.
There's a small portion of those who are considering scamming who will read this and laugh, perhaps remark that I'm a coward and weakling, but hopefully most of you will realise it's just a way to cause more problems.
I've since had to build myself up to having a decent few rooms filled with furni, but at least I did what I could to make up for my crime. He'll never be able to be a Habbo X, I black- marked his record.
This was 9 months ago now, I just hope the guy's okay now.
Every time I read the word keylogger or hack I feel like scum.

Really sit and think what you're doing to other people's lives when you rob them on habbo, for all I know he could have spent all of his pocket money on credits. He could have so desperately wanted to be a Habbo X, and when I robbed his account I had gone around insulting people and being rude in his name, he'll never get to do it, at least not under that account.
When I think of all of the repercussions of what I did I feel helpless, I'm still too afraid to turn myself in to a Moderator. What repulses me more than what I did was how nice and pleasant he was, I'm actually afriad at how easily I let myself lie to someone and rob them.
People have this misconception that theft on the internet somehow differs from mugging someone in the street, it doesn't, it's worse in fact, it's the coward's way of robbing people.

Edited by Catzsy (Forum Super Moderator): It is against the rules to name programmes that are illegal/against the Habbo way. Thx:)

Tbh, I never scammed in my life. But however, I got scammed before. Basically, someone gave me a website to register on, she promised my a free HC and I was like why not. However, I used the same pass as my Habbo, and she took my pass and my furni :(

I know, that kind of stuff happens. I guess until people learn that anything too good to be true is a scam there'll always be scammers. What's scary is how often you get approached by them.
It would appear that there's very few decent habbos out there, but it's not the case, I think there's a few really nasty ones operating on various accounts.
The other problem is that the mods can't step in if the person scammed violated the Habbo Way themselves or was naive (i.e. leaving furni in someone else's room), so usually the scammer will lock you in like that. So if you complain to a mod that you were keylogged, they'll say you can't send programs across habbo and once you tell them that you revealed your instant messaging address there's nothing they can do.
I think Sulake should be emphasing more and more the ways that scammers operate.
I don't know how many people on habbo have been scammed since it started, but I'd guess the number ventures into the late hundreds if not thousands. However the rate of scams isn't that atrocious when you consider that, worldwide, there's 66 million registered habbos.

I've never scammed before, never even thought of doing it, but even if I did, I wouldn't cry myself to sleep over it. Also, I haven't been scammed, but if I do, sure, I'll probably get angry, but it won't have destroyed my life.

If someone came up to you not knowing the price of a throne selling it for 2hcs would you buy it?

Wow, very nice post & rep.

I respect you man, I have thought about scamming that many times when I was down, but I know I would never forgive myself and that it's only pixels. It's so sad seeing people continuiously doing it.

Wow thats a very admirable thing to say dude, you've got some great thoughts on scamming and really if this is what some scammers go through then if they read this I bet that quite alot of people would be put off scamming. I do feel sorry for you at the same time though, I mean it IS only a game and you dont need to cry about it but at least you see the seriousness on what it can do to some people and I'm personally glad that someone like yourself seen the error of their scamming ways and returned it all. It's a shame there aren't many people like you on Habbo Hotel. You should be very proud of yourself posting here and admitting you were once a scammer, very proud indeed. After all, it does take some courage to say something like that to such a large community! :)

Great post and +rep as that is telling the truth of scamming full stop.

Also (not being mean or anything) but you sound like you're in an Alcohol Anonymous meeting! Dont take it into offense, just having a joke with ya. ;)

Yeah I know it's 'only a game' but I took everything this guy had, I think it was more about how nice he seemed and how I just took advantage of him.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a pushover, in fact I'm more aggressive than most if I feel I've been cheated, but I was exhibiting that cold- hearted and malicious attitude that the worst people in the world have. It's like picking a soft target and abusing their ignorance, and like I said, I don't know how much the game meant, how long he'd spent on it.

Plus the other thing was I wasn't even doing badly for furni, I was just being greedy and malicious.
