Howdy :)
For me I'm sure it was a gradual process that took years/months of slowly deepening with a slight squeak every now and again when I shouted lol.
What is the shortest possible length of time that it can take a voice to break?
Shortest possible time?
An hour? A day? A week? A month? 6 months? A year?
Thanks :)

One of the people i used to play football with had a squeeky voice one week and a low voice the next... it was v.freaky. (he was kinda big for his age though)

It is custom to each individual person, everyones body is different and chnges/reacts ina different way, so it's hard to say!

Mine wasn't much of a difference really, because I've always had a deeper, louder voice than most people - and it just got a tiny bit deeper.

I supose it is possible, but not very common in most cases. Depends on your body and your metabolism

It usually takes up to a week to break properly, you'll always get squeeks though.

Mine broke last year, i have a deep voice sometimes and when i talk it kind of squeeks when i say certain letters or sounds. It sucks its kind of embarrasing to squeek when most of your friends's voice has already broke or hasn't yet.
I remember a guy in school who was amazing at singing. His voice broke in the middle of a show and he lost his nice sweet voice

mine started to break when i was 11. i started puberty quite early as i was abnormally tall for my age. i believe it stopped by the time i was 13. i still possess the power to scream like a high pitched girl though. but now i'm not too sure about that since i'm having cough atm.
Mine broke when I was 12, you don't really notice a change as its gradual. Although if you speak to someone who hasn't heard you before your voice broke they'll definately notice the difference lol.

I know what this is about, MY voice broke a day before he heard me and it's really deep and croaky, and let me tell you it IS possible as my dad went through the same thing, and I have a sore throat making it deeper and hard to talk, so I don't think it's gonna be that deep
Freak thinks I'm editing, now I can't talk as it's to painfull (throat infection)

No.
Although sometimes it looks as though peoples voices magically break "overnight" it doesn't.
The process of your voice breaking is gradual and happens over a long period of time throughout puberty. However, it isn't just like one day it magically breaks. Some boys experience the effects of their voice breaking gradually, such as yourself, as it does so.
However, some others may not experience immediate effects during the actual process of it breaking, then one day further on they might experience it a bit more - making it appear as though their voice has broken overnight or in a matter of hours etc.

Lol yeh a lot of boys voices are like that... it's just because (like I said) your voice breaking is a gradual process so it's still a bit squeaky and stuff! :)

I guess it just depends. My voice broke, I would say, over a month or two, and it got really annoying. Whereas my friends voice broke in about 2 weeks.
Speaking in general, I guess if others around you have broken really quickly, it could seem as if yours is taking longer to break, as thats what you are familiar too. And the same vice versa. But in reality, it just varies.

Mine broke about 4 times in 5 years? It wasn't gradual, it'd take like a month for it to break a little more each time.

Haha well it was gradual then! :P
Like it was gradually breaking over the months and you were noticing it's effect gradually also - as in each month it sounded a little bit deeper! :P

Mine broke when I was in year 8.. so I was 12. It took like a week.
After your voice has fully broke, you can do high pitch squeals and do a wide variety of voices!
1 of my friends still gets high occurances in his voice, best 1 was when he was telling us to "**** off" and his voice just went really high, it's just 1 of them things.. but we found it hilarious :)

mine is gradually dropping, my started dropping around when i was 10 or so
My voice started dropping when i was 11.
My brother mates allways pointed out how squeaky it was but now they dont.
I think my first sqeak was around november 06. I asked my mum how long tea would be but it squeaked when i said tea, twas quite funny.
Im still squiking quite alot where it goes high and then low, i have a deeper voice than most of my mates but with my brother it took about 3 years to break, he didnt squeak or go high or low, it wasnt a wake up in the morining with ya voice broke situation.
It broke over a long period of time, i cant remember when i actually noticed it god alot deeper

That happened to me :( I wasn't the best singer in the world or anything but I was in the choir and in a band (although that was never going anywhere so not much of a loss) and now if I do sing it has to be in a reallllllly low key, and I usually fail anyway :P

May I please quote wikipedia - the source of my intelligence :)
Voice change
Under the influence of androgens, the voice box (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_box), or larynx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larynx), grows in both genders. This growth is far more prominent in boys, causing the male voice to drop, sometimes abruptly but never "over night", about one octave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octave), because the longer and thicker vocal folds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocal_folds) have a lower fundamental frequency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_frequency).
