View Full Version : [Bobba] People who talk in Text

You see I am one of these people who always use's proper English. Nowdays, I just can't stand people who talk in text. Its completly fine if your sending a text message and I can deal with that. Sometimes I use stuff like BRB and AFK, and lets face it alot of people if not everyone uses them also.
Just about everyone says Lol, Rofl or Lmao. That sort of stuff is okay too because its a way of expression. But what gets me is when someone comes up to you or floods in a room using text language.

Okay so we have ignore BIG WOW. But the question remains why do people chat this rubbish? When I ask alot of people they always say "Its easier and faster". Yeah, Try saying that to your employer when your older. The whole point in this post wasn't to tell you to shut up. I am simply saying that if you get to used to it and use it at work when your older you may get the sack. So re-think before you type another word.
Yeah, By now you think I am a moody old git. But when you have been on the PC as long as I have the littlest things become a pain in the bobba.

Yeah when people say Hey or How are you? Thats just small talk and I hate that too. But when they do it with text it really makes me angry.

At first when I joined Habbo I hated it, it really does get annoying but after a while you kinda get used to it. Everyone has their own way of typing whether it be "Capping Every Single Letter" or going "cme on dwn 2 ma casino 4 rites" or of course "I luuv yhoo 2!!!<333" and lets not forget "1 r 1337 5p34k0R pH331 m1 wR47h!11!!".
Easy to say, its what makes a community really, the way people type, speak and conduct themselves. Could you imagine everyone typing the same way, everyone conducting themselves in the same way? It wouldn't be fun at all really. I wouldn't get annoyed by it as they are human beings who just like to type a faster way than others and since you're only allowed to type so much in the speech box then they use their way of typing to their advantage. People will change their ways when they're in a job, hell I know like 20-30 year olds who type the way that you're describing yet they are computer administrators and such!
Some people like to conduct themselves professionally 24/7 like they've got something to live up to while some others just type for the hell of it. Just get on with life and dont moan about it because really they're probably decent people just they can't type properly.. I speak to many peope who just text speak and I can cope with it, it's nothing big. :S Anyway just deal with it, dont like it and you're missing out on speaking to real people.

I know its irritating, I have experienced it myself. However, as Pyroka said, it forms a sense of community. This is why each community is unique, and forms a sense of belonging. If this community is not unique, no one would want to continue to use Habbo. I think that there should be a barrier set up so the "text speech" will not mess up the "proper speech" Imagine sending an email to your boss. i m nt comin 2 work 2dae cuz i am proper sick k? That is obviously not acceptable.

just because people use text speak on habbo or msn, it doesn't mean that they are going to use it when they are older and have a job.

Why are you complaining when your grammer and puntucation (sp?) isn't that good either? So please don't complain when you're not perfect. Also, let people speak how they want, it's only a forum / Habbo / online game.
