New Dark Skin Feedback

Hey guys,

As you may or may not know, the new dark skin has been released.

Please let us know what you think of it here. If you don't really like dark skins, its best not to reply here as this is mainly aimed at those who like dark skins and will be using it :).

If you have any suggestions etc, you may want to have an example to help us ;).

To see the new skin, scroll to the very bottom of the page and select the dark skin.

But things like transparency with images in as issue, and like the white boarder around everything. Maybe like have different shades of black, grey, silver, white etc to make it a bit more spread out and even?

However I have to express my hate at the colours of peoples names and all the font colours etc that have changed and gone weird :S

I liked the dark skin, and did say I had switched to it. Though after a while I found I was straining my eyes too much on it, so I switched back to blue. But I still really like it.

I'm guessing Habbox are not trying to relate to a certain style such as "Emo, Chav" just colours and Habbo (ouf course) thus if using items such as that it would create a unfair balance between the styles and of course making the Chav's mad just like the 'Gay, Bi' forums, Str8 members wanted their own so you'll see what could happen.

I didnt quite understand all of that, but I agree. There appears to be more "emos" than other people on the forum and habbox therefore try to satisfy them first.

As for the skin itself, I personally dont like it because of the flashing "new post" thing on the index and everything seems to blocky.

Yeah that would be pretty good I think. I have also changed my mind I really, strongly hate the banner now. It really does not match at all. The design is okay, and no offence is meant to the person who made it but it doesn't fit the background at all.

As i have a much brighter monitor now, I actully like the new skin, everything looks really good, All I saw was last time was grey/white/blue/green text and everythink in bold, but my new pc rules :D 9.9/10 for this darkskin welldone!

The text on the banner doesn't match with anything. The repeating background looks like something I would find on Piczo. It isn't seemless and doesn't fit with the plain-ness of the rest of the skin. The pixel artist badge also isn't transparent and the stars have a white around them. The buttons also don't fit.

Sure, it seems a bit harsh, but that's the way I see it.

Each pixel on a .gif must be either 100&#37; transparent, or not transparent at all. The only way you can make them not look naff, is by having a background colour on the stars the same colour as the grey behind it. I'll post in a little while showing what I mean.

My 15 mins expired as I was editing that message. Basically, as this is the only dark skin, you would need a whole new set of stars which do have a solid colour background as opposed to a transparent background.

I had to make those stars from scratch as I don't have the original file (which would be a Photoshop file). Making them again if you had the original file would be incredibly easy though.

actually you could make the current stars have a bright green backround, as long as it goes right to the edge. Then make the green transparent so the rest of the star isnt affected. I will do some later to show what I mean

That is how my stars look close up. See how they fade out towards the edge? That's called anti-aliasing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-aliasing). It smooths the edges of the star. To have a transparent background of ANY type, you have to have no anti-aliasing as it involves semi-transparency. Without anti-aliasing, the graphics will have a jagged look to them.

I'm pointing out that his idea wouldn't work because of the limitations of gif files. I couldn't do this without showing an example of anti-aliasing. I'm truly sorry if it has upset you in any way. -shrug-

It's very nice until you see images.. even simple ones such as Rep Blocks and Stars because of white outlines and they just don't fit.

Its too dark. Loads of proper images go weird with it like rep blocks. Easter VIP looks great with it though. But those with black VIP like me gets it messed up :(
