Are Iran doing the right thing holding british troops for ''going into'' Iraney waters?

If they did actually stray into Iranian waters then they are fully justified in arresting them, however if the British Government said they did not, and the sailors actually didn't (despite the "confessions") then I obviously detaining the British sailors is totally wrong.

it all depends on whether they did or not, if they did the iranians have the right to hold them, but they shouldn't of made a big deal about it. and if they were in iraqi waters, then they should of been released now.

Thats not entirely true, it all depends on what they intend to do, you wouldnt let someone with nukes into the english channel..

The water 'belongs' to the Iranians, if we strayed into the water then we violate international law. It could also be seen (by the paranoid Iranians) as an act of aggression, as a group of sailors armed and on a boat equipped with military items entering your waters is something the Iranians do not want.


They have no right, its their duty to abide by the instructions given.

They have every right if the sailors strayed into their waters. They only have confessions though, which may well not be true as we are not aware under what conditions they were given. For example the body language of certain sailors while confessing gives stuff away; they shuffle in their seat suggesting they are uncomfortable and look to someone behind the camera most likely for reassurance they are saying the right thing.

If this is solved as it should be, by diplomacy. I doubt they will :) I don't think they would be able to regardless, but I am not sure.

Your wrong there, water can't really be messed up, but you going on my LAWN, will ruin my plants.. anyway doubt you could get over the fence.

Doubt it'll happen.
The international community should support the return of our soldiers. Their soldiers held by us should be for a genuine reason (if not trade is good).

The individuals should be returned, and some sort of agreement should be decided.
