I think the teachers make them out to be more than what they really are. I'm taking my SATS too this year and I think it does set you for next year and the year after but I think it's also to assess the school too. To see if the teachers and what not are doing there job properly.
That's my opinion anyway.

Yeh I is doing them this year. ALL of my teachers say they are a load of crap. Tbf its completely unfair on us, because we have a middle school tier system, which means primary school finishes at eyar 4, we move onto a middle school and finish that in year 8, then go to high school. at the end of year 8 we had 'transfer tests', so they knew what sets to put us in when we got there. As soon as we got there they made us do another set of tests to know whats sets they put us in and we was like omg we done this. anyway all the teachers say sats are crap but then they go omg reviseeee! which is probably because they get marked on how well they are teaching their class depending on the grades we get I suppose. AND, why do we have a whole shakespeare paper, now that is a load of bull. We have them in May. ALSO, i know this is off topic but HOW USELESS IS CITIZENSHIP/PSHE AND RE???? all that work for only 1 gcse put together! that is just CRAP! I wouldnt mind as much if we got one for each, but no, and especially in citizenship we have to write an essay like every month, then they never get graded anyway.

I think that's my longest post ever, kthxbi.

They are only really for School Ratings, other than that pretty much worthless. Nice to get a good grade though ;)

Nah, they wern't really hard when I had them but as people have said above... they are made out to be, but that still means you still should put all your effort in! :P

Ive had the mock maths and science ones.
Maths 1 - 39 / ? (? because some of the questions werent readable because of poor photocopying)
Maths 2 - No results yet
Mental - No results yet
But the level 7 boundary is 81+, so I only need 42 in total from the paper 2 and mental to get a 7 (5-7 paper). I thought I did crap on the first one too and still got 39 so hopefully Ill just get like 42 in my test 2 and wouldnt need to take the mental ;D
im doing my sats in year 8.
am doing 6 to 8 in maths
and 3 to 6 in science coz i am crap.

Tbh, everyone thinking their clever because they are doing their sats a year before are lieing, sats are there to test a certain age group, they're not to see if you can get a good mark when you're of a lower age. It's the average for that year group, so theres no point trying to big yourself up to people on the internet, it's pretty sad tbh xox.
They're not pointless, people who leave school at year 11 are sometimes asked what there grades were for sats because their GCSE's are not through yet, they put you into sets for GCSE's, so you might have to be in set one to do higher papers, so yeah. They're not intirely useless
They're also not harder/easier than GCSE's, because when your in year 11 you know all you need to know about whats on the test. Like when your in year 9, you know all you need to know about whats on the test. It just seems like the sats are easier. xox.

Maths (Paper 3) - 46/66
Maths (Paper 4) - 40/66
Mental - 21/30
I got a Level 6 overall.
