View Full Version : Ever consider plastic surgery?

There are far more terrible things going on in the world, but a bit of TLC for oneself isn't such a bad thing. It feels good to be able to look in the mirror and say "Damn... I look GOOD!", but how far would you go to look good? Would you ever consider plastic surgery to enhance your looks?

I'm fine with people having plastic surgery, as long as it doesn't look fake or is unnecessary. I've come to absolutely hate my nose over the past few years, and I'd honestly consider rhinoplasty to make it look better. Some people may object but I think it's something that would make me feel a whole lot better about myself, and thus more confident. I guess this is quite unusual for a lad.

I think next year I'm also going to get veneers put on some of my front teeth (they were never bad enough for a brace when I was younger, and veneers are cheaper than getting a brace for a year or two).

What are your guys' (and gals') views?

Umm, I don't think I need it. That sounds really vain lol, but it's true, I'm more than happy with what I look like and plastic surgery wouldn't help. If getting your teeth done counts as cosmetic surgery then count me in. As long as they're not bright white and I look like an idiot, I don't mind, like you said, when people have it done and they look fake, it's hideous. Maybe if I got a bit of sagging skin here and there before I was meant to I'd get surgery. Like some people get really bad turkey chins at 30-40. If anything I'd want to look decent for my age.

It's not narcissistic at all. Some people have it done to give them that extra confidence.

I would never have anything done on my face because I've seen too many horror stories on tv lol but I think some people benefit from it a lot because it gives them more self-confidence however people can get addicted and make themselves look imo a lot worse

Soka
20-04-2007, 03:38 PM
nah, you should accept how you look imo, and not change it.

in some extreme cases yeah i agree in it - for example the french woman who got her face bit by a dog, and basically needed a face replacement to make her look ''normal'', but you can tell shes had it anyway.

i've changed one thing and thats to have braces to make my teeth perfectly straight :D

Thanks for everyone's opinions :)

To those of you just saying "no" though... Why? This thread isn't necessarily about you PERSONALLY getting plastic surgery. If you don't want it, fair enough, but is there a reason? Or are you just flat-out against changing what you look like?

I really would NEVER consider anything more serious than a nose job. Why? Because I don't feel I need anything else. I'm (for the most part) fine with the way I am, and if I wanted to alter the one thing that annoyed me about myself, then whose to say I can't. I'd never do it because I was under the impression that it was going to make me instantly popular or more attractive to the opposite sex, because it probably isn't. However, I think it would give me a bit more confidence.

I'd get laser eye surgery done, lol. Many people class that as plastic surgery as it's cosmetic...

Why change yourself when god made you like you are? So my answer is no.
Eye surgery has a big risk included.

I'm not religious, so God really doesn't come into the decisions I make I'm afraid.

And laser eye surgery does carry a slight risk, but is on the most part a successful procedure. The problem lies with the fact that it only really lasts a maximum of 10 years.

Watch out for helen.

@all you people saying its wrong etc: whats wrong with having more confidence? If you dont want to do it, you dont have to. If youre against plastic surgery, then that means you must be against wearing makeup, dying your hair, and painting your fingernails.

Covered in fake skin? Skin grafts are often used only for people in accidents or for burns. Like I've said, I know it won't make you a better person, or more popular, or more attractive, but it can give you MORE CONFIDENCE. More confidence inevitably leads to more happiness as you feel more comfortable with who you are.

Yes, that's still plastic surgery. And it's still changing something about your body that makes you feel more comfortable. Can anyone really argue that it's that much different to someone getting a breast augmentation or nose job?

dirrty
20-04-2007, 10:32 PM
yeah i would. proberly get a nose job of some sort. dont like mine. its like in your face. lol

proberly get other stuff aswell cause i dont exactly feel comfortable or anything when i walk down the street or anything.

nah i wouldn't have like proper plastic surgery. i'm not totally unhappy with my body, and surgery is expensive and could easily mess up, leaving you a bigger problem.
