My Dad rang up my Drama teacher over something that happend between me and her. She kicked me out of school during the Easter revision session for forgetting some work I needed and I was unable to get home. Unhappy with her, my Dad rang her and complained.
Today, she shouted infront of the WHOLE class how she didnt appreciate me making up lies (lies I didnt make) my Dad ringing up and having a go at her. So because of her, the whole class knows the details of a private phone-call.
I was wondering, is she within her rights to do this? I was thinking about complaining about it, but am I right to do so? And is so, who to? Advise please [=

It was harsh and you should feel unhappy with her as you would expect her to... HOWEVER No teacher can offer you confidentiality because they can loose theyre job for it if its bad.. ie murdering someone (stupid example i know) However they can do the best they can which would mean not telling people in the staff room etc what was going on... So overall they cant be confidential but they shouldnt embarras you and it was not proffesional of her to do so.. i would complain

Yer they can, unless its abuse then they have to tell otherwise they dont. Along with you have rights to get her fired, warned for discussing private matters, discuss with your headteacher ASAP otherwise she'll get herself out of this mess.

She has no right to do that at all. Discussing private phone calls i mean what the hell. I reckon the best people to go to would be your local education authority (LEA)

:What ever action you wish to take i suggest doing it monday, tuesday latest otherwise its going to classed as 'old' and no action taken.
If they can get away with it, they will.

I think you have every right to make a complaint because what she done was quite simply wrong.

I think she was "****** off" and decided to embarrass you. Just complain the the staff in a higher position then her, we call them the Exco (sp?) in my school.

It isn't ethical because it should be kept confidential, but you may aswell forget about and give her some cheek which may satisfy yourself, because if you complain, nothing will be done because she is a member of the faculty, the system is corrupted!

So let me put this into proportion.
You didn't bring in work that was needed for the revision sessions.
Your dad rang up and complained because you didn't do you work. (I know he rang in cos you were booted from the session but that only happened because you didn't do the work)
She tells the class that your dad complained over the phone.
You're just making something out of nothing.
In my eyes, the teacher is the victim here.
You should have done your work and brought it in.

still, she is in no right to discuss what was said over the phone..
read again;
"She kicked me out of school during the Easter revision session for forgetting some work I needed and I was unable to get home."

I had already read that.
There are three parts to homework.
The homework beign setting, the student doing it and the student bringing it in at the right time.
The teacher had every right to do that after receiving silly phone calls.

Its not right for her to shout at you like that. Anything that happens with Parents and Teachers outside school must stay outside school. I think its extremely beyond the school law's for a Teacher to shout at a student for something that didn't mainly involve them.

it didnt say he didnt do it, it only said he FORGOT it. she has no right to say anything, no matter how 'silly' it is.

O, I have done the work, its just I needed to edit it, but I couldnt of bought it in on memory stick as the program I use at home is not compatible with the schools.

so if you forgot some homework (obv. you wouldn't as you are clearly showing you suck up to teachers) and you got booted out of the class you wouldn't care.
or say you had diorreah (sp) and your parents called the school and then a teacher shouted in a class OH YEAH U WAZ AWAY YESTADAY CUZ U AD THE SHITZ LOL. you wouldn't be bothered.
cuz it's the same kinda thing.

So that is different to what you said before.
Before, you said you had done it but you supposedly "forgot" to bring it in now you're saying you had to edit it.

my mum works at a school and she says teachers arn't aloud to humiliate students in anyway infront of their peers or class mates no matter what the situation is. so I guess your teacher has done wrong and you should complain
