Does anyone play battlefield 2142, It's like BF 2 But in my opinion 20x better.

the only thing I would love to see in battlefield 2142 that ins't already is some jets like in bf 2. So does anyone else play it's an awesome game jsut a pity it gets so lagged up at times.

I've liked a few futurisitic FPSs like Halo and stuff so I think I'd like 2142. How much does it sell for these days? I play bf2 but what I have is like a demo or something because I can't play online. Hey look a screenie is even in my sig. I think Battlefield 2 is $60 (AUD), is 2142 much more expensive?

If you go to play.com I think it's pretty cheap around £15 - £30 And the all new booster pack is 6.99 from hmv. It's a download slip though so you need to download ea link and install it. Before you can then download northren strike using it.

They're trying to be realistic in the game, so there are no laser guns. You still use normal ammunition, but the guns sound alot cooler.

Yeah :P I just read the review on gamespot and watched a few trailers on youtube. That game looks absolutely awesome especially the titan game thing. I think I might buy it... I hope I will depending on the price. Does it get a lot of users online?

Yes it has many online players. There are nearly over 200 64 player servers that are full alot of the time. I prefer to play on 32 player servers though in order to keep the ping down - becuase in some cases the server machines that are hosting the games are just not powerful enough to host a 64-player game.

2142 is better then bf2 in some aspects but not all. for example if i want to snipe i load up bf2 not 2142. but the titan mode... attacking and defending the titan... just perfect... defending a corridor from attack or having to breech down it to the console..

Lols indeed. I like the fact that in 2142 you can zoom with your sniper scope, whereas you can't in bf2.

well... you can right click and get te scope.

i prefer sniping on bf2... its the more open maps while on 2142 there rather building ful and ... well too much for a sniper

on bf2 i could get a nice spot and slowly advance sniping of anyone i could see... it was an art

in 2142 its safer to just get a assult pack, give yourself the unlock for it, add a shotgun on it for thoose momment you run out of normal ammo. give yourself the defibs and medi pack and just lead a squad to victory

I don't know if you noticed this.. but BF2 has better graphics that 2142 for some reason.

i guess they relised that if they sacaficed some graphics they could get a more faster stable game.

just like the Delta force series of games. the graphics wern't Ace but you never got lag

I really want to but I'm having second thoughts about whether or not it's worth spending $100 on. I do have spare money from my birthday but I'm a bit unsure.
I think it'd be very well worth it and I'll finally have a good game that I can play online. I guess even if it's not online it'd still be good playing single player. Especially titan mode.

Ah good to see thre are some people intrested in getting the game $100 sounds a little excessive. Get it from play.com real cheap! It's a great game. No Pay to play and the northern strike booster packs gives you 3 maps 2 of which are a snipers paradise.

One Australian dollar is: 0.6128 European Euro as of the 20/4/07 and if its £30 then it should by about $60 here. There's seriously messed up unless I got the exchange rates wrong which I probably did. Oh and I'm Australian so I don't think play.com will send it overseas :P

I can get it for $30 on ebay "/ That's like 70% cheaper than Jb Hi Fi and $50 (50% cheaper) if I want it Sealed.

What is it? I've watched a few video/films from the Sir Community who I think are a bf2142 clan on youtube and they rock. They are edited very well and have some jokes.
There's something strange going on though, I've been searching the Internet and JB Hi Fi says $96 yet Eb Games says $40 or something like that although EB games usually jack up their prices. It's odd so I'll have to look at it tomorrow. if not I can get bf2142 unsealed and brand new from ebay for $53.

tis deffintly a booster pack,

its alot better as a expansion to 2142 then specia ops was to bf2.

the maps are deffintly ace especially the titan shipyard. its a shame there isn't a titan docked

bf2 is okay but the futuristic style of 2142 appeals to me as well as Titan mode and I think 2142 has a lot more unlocks than bf2.

I really want to pilot a battlewalker - Are they good?

They're not that menuverable, and the missiles on them aren't that accurate. But its machine guns don't pull any punches. Very accurate and powerful. A word of advice - If you're on the ground and not in a vehicle, if you hear a walker coming.. R U N.

It arrived today!
It's a shame taht when you start playing there is basically nothing you can do (grenades, bombs, better guns etc.). I played a few single player levels and I'll start playing online soon.
BTW how do I go about playing online? Do I just run the game normally and press multiplayer and the server lists will pop up or do I need to like start the game differently, register it to play online or something like that?
Oh I haven't downloaded any patch yet.

sometimes my screen goes horziontaly grainy but some of the text stays normal - is this a problem or is it just a grenade or something?
Oh and do I have to play online to rank up to a private or w/e the thing is that says #/40.

I'll start playing online on the weekend, I just wanna get the feel for it first.

Do you have to knife someone to get the tag and how do you pick it up?

Ok you can only collect somebody's dogtags when you're playing online once again. When you knife somebody, you automatically collect the tags (you don't have to pick them up or anything).

One final (hopefully) question. In the video that plays before the game there is a place where there are like silo kind of things with bridges/ladders going across them in a snowy area. What level is that?

I'm not sure, but i'm pretty confident you're talking about a titan map. You can't play that on single player, only on multiplayer.

can you still create a local LAN game and play around on it yourself like in bf2?

What I mean is, going to multiplayer -> Lan -> Create Local and then you can use the multiplayer maps/modes but without players. I did it on bf2 to see what they were like and I just did it on 2142 to see what Titan mode was like and explore a titan (no enemies though)

You ned to get every patch to play online, If you have ea link it's really easy, otherwise it's 1.05 onwards... And that map with the silo things is Shuia Tubia I think
