Yes, you can use small at any level BUT YOU NEED 50 TO USE SMALL MEDIUM AND LARGE! - and you can only get 1k nats an hour with all three.

you also have to minus a minute or two because it takes another 2-3 seconds to cross the wilderness ditch.
