Hey guys.

My prom is in about 5 weeks time and I'm in desperate need of getting a suit! Lol. I've had a look on some websites and only really seen one or two I've considered buying.

Basically, I have exams all through next month then my mum's baby is due 2 days before my prom - so my schedule is pretty hectic and I don't have loads of time to go shopping to find one and stuff.

Therefore - please suggest some suits you think would be nice for a prom! :)

The dearest I have considered so far is £160 in total, but I'd maybe pay a wee bit more than that.

I'm looking for some serious suggestions here, and I will give +16 rep to all helpful posts.

I'm not looking for white or anything - quite dark colours and I also quite like pinstripes but it's not necessary.

Thanksss! :)

Also - comments on this one please:

i don't suggest splashing out a lot of money for a prom suit if you're only going to wear it once. have you thought about hiring one out? that's probably the most logical and practical option.

*edit: with regards to the picture, i'd say it looks more suitable to be worn as a business suit, rather than a prom suit.

Very classy suite, Im suprised to see u asking for help :D

Why don't you just hire a suite if your only going to use it for the prom?

Well, I considered hiring out, but like I say my mum is due her baby so then I'll need one for it's christening and I also have a wedding coming up - so if I were to keep hiring it would end up just costing as much...

I wouldnt buy one, not worth the money, especially if your gonna only wear it for your prom. And with your pic, its not really a prom suit, but you if you want originality, go with something like that.

With regards of places to hire suits, Im sure there will be places in your local shopping centers. I know for sure Burtons Menswear hire out suits.

well a suite That you might wear to a christening is different from a tuxedo that u wear at a prom...

Lol exactly - thats why i was thinking the first suit could maybe cover all bases...

Also I just had a look at Burtons formal rental price list - and it's gonna cost about £60 - £70, which when done twice will work out to be about the same price as buying a suit.

or don't wear a suit. heh

i wore a plain white shirt, skinny black tie, black braces, pin striped pants and converse.

saved me a lot of money anyway.

Yeah. I bought a suit for Prom as I've worn it for Funeral's, Interviews and the like - it's worth getting a general one which just suits you.

I got mine from Suits Plus, where the majority of the stock is max price £160 and they usually do have quite a large selection.

The best one is the options in first two posts. however, if you are buying one and will use it briefly within a while. buy one of those cheap ones from asda. some of them look good although personally i wouldnt but thats just me.

In my opinion, a guy can get away with wearing a suit 2 days in a row because they all look the same to me. But I suggest don't go over board on your suit. Set a budget && look for a suit online && at different stores for something within your budget. If you find something out of your budget but is just what your looking for, buy it ONLY if it's not overboard && two if it's really what you want. Also, that suit is very nice && to me would be great for prom.

I suggest you rent 3 different suits for the 3 different events, unless the suit you chose suits them all.

And that suit, similarly mentioned by another Hxf Member, is too "meeting a client" style.

There's no point renting 3 different suits and that would cost just as much - if not more than it would to buy one and therefore completely defeats the purpose...

I'm going to look for some today. :)

About 300 dollars it is.
Which is about, what you're looking to spend.

Lol I wouldn't wear something like that. It needs to be something which is sensible for a few occasions - I could hardly wear that to an interview or funeral... lmao.
