I think that because lots of people are buying petals moons will be quite rare to find. Although other that space themed rooms I can't see what they would be used for so I think they will be at about 1-2hcs.

They do but people still moan, look at Hedges "OMGZ DEY AR CRAP WHY DID DEY MAK THEM CRAP FINGS11!!" and look at Road Barriers.

I can see the Moon Patch becoming another Sand/Snow, all patches will be released again in the future as they grow in popularity.
