All of us have heard the saying 'Play it but dont live it'
Its quite true.
Okay, lets start from the beginning.
Imagine, your playing falling furni and you win. You get a piece of furni, big woop. Its not even real furni, its virtual. Dont get too excited.
Imagine, you open your furni shop, you trade your furni for a better furni, it doesnt really matter what kind of furni you have because its fake.
Someone might say to you 'Haha, your poor, noob' eventually there a noob calling you a noob when its a virtual game.
I doesnt mean you shouldnt buy furni or waste your time on it.
PLAY IT, BUT DONT LIVE IT.

Its even got laggier :(
It said The Loading Boxes will make it faster.
It didnt :(
I don't know, I only care about it because it has some sort of value on ebay even though I'll never get round to selling it.

I go on to mainly speak to my mates, as that is the only way I can talk to them.

Well it's like when people are online and then say 'I'm bored'; computers/internet are meant for recreation, i.e. to kill boredom. People have just come to treat the internet as an "extension to life" and treat it the same way as people at school treat the playground. I think Habbo is addictive, especially collecting furni or becoming a HabboX for example, because it helps people feel significant or powerful whereas in real life they're just another person. Habbo has a particular social ladder and I think people see it as a goal to climb that ladder which is what makes it so addictive.

I've started going back on it for like the nights.. May do a bit more in the day now but anyway, I've found that it's addictive because of FURNI. When I left Habbo I gave every single bit of furniture away and dang, I never touched it for like months (unless something huge came up with a mate). It's definitely the furni as you gain your 'popularity' from it and gives you a feeling of success somewhere; something which alot of people desire in life.

Im a jurno for www.habbotat.com (http://www.habbotat.com) (for [au]), so I play it for that mostly
Some people take it too over the top.
As long as you dont let it rule your life... it's oky to go on it. But not everyday.
Sometimes people use these games as an escapism. They get bored of the life they are leading, so they turn to virtual worlds such as habbo, where they can be and say what they want, without people judging them etc.
To me, this is somewhat sickening, when you think that people give up their real lives, for fake lives.
You probz think to yourself "Yeh, that is pretty bad.. but I dont think there are many people like that"..
Well there are, for example : some of the nerds at my school
:o
It's up to you *points finger at the addicted* to notice in yourself when you are letting the virtual life take over your own.

I only ever used to go on to make rooms, and then when I started meeting people, getting more and more friendly with them, I started going on more and more >_> But I'm glad really, because I go and see these people every month and they're awesome :] I just pop on every now & again now.

I think you grow out of it in the end because you realise its nothing.
Sometimes people use these games as an escapism. They get bored of the life they are leading, so they turn to virtual worlds such as habbo, where they can be and say what they want, without people judging them etc.

See if you call them nerds... why do you think they are like that on habbo? because there noone can judge them and they can actually have fun all the time unlike in real life they could be having fun one minute then someone like you calls them a nerd or someone else bullys them for whatever reason.
I use to be quite addicted... at first it was for friends etc. then people left and it was all the furni trading.. I LOVED it.
Now I only go on once ever so often.. I use this forum alot though as a way to help my boredum at work lol.
But if you can see where Im coming from... yes people shouldnt let it ruin their lives, 'living' their life on the internet, but yet it doesnt help them when they may find their real life hard because of bullying etc.

It's not just for the furni aspect of habbo..
It's for the community too I think :)
When i was younger I used to go on habbo ALL the time :P
Now I work, college and have more of a social life, I don't go on it all the time xox

I had to lol at this thread, How daft.
I actually dnt remember how I even entertained myself on Habbo when I played it. There is nothing to do!
I remember trying to introduce people and they are like... thats it? :\
Habbo is loosing popularity anyway. The originals are leaving, and although new people are coming, they get bored easily or dont like what they get from it, and leave.

furni + reputation is everything. getting permed on aight. was the best thing that ever happened to me on habbo. i got donated yeah, like 3t worth on my new acct but i never go on because it sucks when you think about it. im getting unpermed in 3 months, might get unpermed & not even come back on, you realise there is so much else to do when you JUST go on habbo instead of outside.

It's very, very addictive when you start out. But for the last two years or so (besides scripting) it's just painful to go on - because it's lost its fun element. I'd say for newbies it's probably better for them to start now than when I did, but due to nostalgia we always see the old times appear better.
Habbo isn't all that bad it's just that people lose interest after time and rightfully so. Never saw the point in purchasing credits though.
That probably doesn't answer it... so the answer is: It's an addictive game.
I was so addicted to habbo when it came out, but got booring after a couple months.

People get addicted to Habbo because they want to be something on Habbo they're not on Habbo probably.
I used to be addicted before Diablo-Lou was permed, now i hardly use it and when i do, its either to sell or to talk to friends.

I'll be honest with you, I once was addicted to Habbo but only for one reason and that was because it was the only virtual game on the PC of it's kind. I started in the early stages of 2002 and was addicted for a couple of months, but I wouldn't say I'm addicted anymore I just visit the Hotel from time to time, decorate my group homepages, talk to old friends. I'm not too bothered about furniture as much as I used to be. No I wasn't a loner, Yes I had socialising skills and no I wasn't bullied. That enough information?

I think its a very valid point.
But to be fair, well to Habbo.. They keep bringing out new versions/Furni/games Etc. to keep people addicted.
I don't think Habbo will last forever. So my opinion is just to enjoy it while it lasts. :D
