being the avid fan i am, heck these guys were THE band that got me into the music i like. without them, id still be listening to pop music, or i wouldn't be listening to music at all.
because of this i couldn't just ignore the fact that demonoid finally had a real torrent of the new album, minutes to midnight.
i humbly waited for 20 minutes. let me tell you know. its was not worth it.
if you have been, like myself, keeping your fingers crossed for an awesome album since meteora came out, then tightened them when the crap that was collision course was released, do not get this album.
sure, it retains the linkin park syle. ish.
the sound, is different. completely different. no more nu-metal, hardly any mixing that i can hear. and swearing. i know swearing in songs nowadays is hardly big, but linkin park are famed for not swearing. they've gone down hill.
the sound is crap, its basic rock. it isnt what you'd expect from them. chester seems to have lost his proper voice, he sounds so different.
imo, this is possibly the worst album they have released, with the exception of collision course.
i am very let down. very very let down.
if you're interested, here's a link to the torrent. (http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1142882/4702342/)
of course, my opinion may change. but i very much doubt it

I'm in agreement, LP weren't as influential for me as you say they were for you but still I expected better than this. They used to have such a unique sound, and now as you said it's just basic rock, and not even done that well. Very unfortunate.

Just downloaded it and I agree, it's really bad compared to the old stuff. They swear too much these days.

i know, its stupid. their old songs were awesome, written perfectly, without the need for swearing to get the emotion or w/e they wanted across to the listener

Linkin Park was the first band that got me into the music I like too... if the rest of the songs are as bad as What I've Done, I'm sadly not expecting it to be a good album. I'll try download it now.

I can't downlod it cos I don't have an account and it won't let me register...

I loved the song in the end (From their first album Hybrid theory) and numb encore ( from when they released an album with Jay-Z)

What I've Done is like the best song on the album. Also, www.mininova.org (http://www.mininova.org) < That's where I got it from.

What I've Done is like the best song on the album.

Oh dear.

I didn't really listen to it alot, maybe it was good but just not good enough to listen to more than once.

I'm listening to their new album atm, I've listened to Track 1, 2 and 3 so far. Sure, it isn't the same as their previous albums at some parts, but it seems alright to me...

Track 4 is freaky....

Im not really a fan, but I read an interview with them. They said they were trying to get away from the whole Nu-Metal scene because they didnt like the other bands associated with it. Which I can really understand. I would hate being associated with a genre that I hate too.

Im not saying the album is good, I havent heard it. But I think, if the album is as bad as you say it is, they were just trying to do something they really liked and miserably failed. If this album is a dud, it's probably their demise.

Anyone who says Collision Course was rubbish is a fool.

Yeah tbh I quite liked Collision Course & i'm no fan of Jay-Z or that type of music. Anyway, I haven't heard the new album but I won't be buying/downloading it because by the sounds of it it's not all that great.

Some of the songs are boring, the rest are good. Quite a few of the songs have political messages, mainly track 6 + 7.

ive listened to it a couple of times through now
im kinda warming up to it
but i still think this is the worst album they've done

Anyone who says Collision Course was rubbish is a fool.

Collision Course was rubbish, it was the worst LP album ever made

This one is pretty dull, they need to stick with Nu-Metal, only two of these songs are actually good, What I've Done and No More Sorrow, the rest is too quiet and boring

Hmm i like it, its a change and i think thats what they need as their music imo sounds all the same although i still like it it gets a bit repetitive

I like Given Up and Bleed It Out the most.

All the stuff they did with Jay-Z sucked imo. But tbh like most bands it has gone in order of best album first , second best second and third best last. I've only heard the ones on LP's website but im looking forward to it as it is on pre order. Mind you I like anything really that linkin park do , I even downloaded the Hybrid Theory EP songs and the underground stuff.

Wow, I can't believe so many people in this thread had the same 'first rock music experience' with linkin park. Somewhere I belong did it for me.

I guess In The End was the first I heard, the whole Hybrid Theory album got me into rock ish music though.

Yeah, I'm with most people. I think it was Meteora that got me into guitar music in general. I used to listen through it all the time. Not so much now though. I also think the new album will be crap.

They got me into rock aswell. Neighbour had Meteora on TOO loud and tbh i loved it. I fell in love with them that day :)

samsaBEAR

there's hardly any mixing in this album, thats why it sounds wierd
compared to meteora at least

I was into rock way before I heard LP for first time :P Nickelback got me into rock, then I heard SlipKnoT for the first time, didn't like it, second time I loved it and that got me into metal :P
