It's not possible to avoid. He could already have the fake trophy in his hand, picks up the real one, and selects the fake one when trading.

Only way I think to avoid it is, to go on remote assistance (I won't explain what that is for those who don't know) and watch them trade it xD

you shouldn't go first when buying a staff trophy.
you should get someone to vouch for you.
and if there selling at stupid prizes i.e 2hc dont do it.
if its something like 6hc do it.
check theres no scam rooms & how long they have played habbo.
and if there hc or not. (don't really think it helps but if there gold hc they prob wont skem)
