View Full Version : Maybe a Valid Suggestion...

I'm not sure if this is a silly suggestion but I've noticed when occasionally reading over the Say something nice about the person above you... (http://75.126.201.170/~habboxfo/showthread.php?t=199790) and the How famous on Habbox is the person above you? (http://75.126.201.170/~habboxfo/showthread.php?t=114581) threads that people seem to use these threads as an excuse to continually post in order to raise post count but they cannot be breaking any rules and they are not classed as pointless posting because technically they are on topic. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to enforce some form of rule regarding some of these threads about how many times you can post in them per week or something as some people post over and over again in an obvious attempt to raise their post count. I post in there sometimes but I think it might be a good idea to stop people from doing it too often.

Maybe this isn't a good idea, I don't know but I thought I'd suggest it anyway. Thanks, I look forward to hearing about your feelings regarding this suggestion. :)

i agree.
under views and replies if you click the replies number people have posted hundreds of times in it and it's just spam to raise post count basically.

I can say sometimes I am a spammer, sometimes I make valuable posts. Just like most people

There is a thread for spam, the forum games forum should be a subforum of spam.

someone said before that even if you get rid of them sort of threads and forums, they will always find somewhere to get their post count up..

I've always wanted to request that thread to be removed but I can't remember the email or password for that account.

Having a rule to only allow a certain amount of posts per week is silly, no one will stick to it. How is it going to be regulated..? A mod checking the thread each day and removing posts, I doubt it.

Then remove post count for it then it'll be less used as they dont get their post count up. :)

Yes I though that but couldn't it just be generally up to the users to report people who are doing it all the time or have one mod on it, I mean a very relaxed scheme something that would be enforced but only really directed at people who take complete advantage of it?

Does that feature even exist for vB forums?

If people wanna use it to get their post counts up, why do you actually care? Is it effecting you personally? Shouldn't be.

I think the forum games post count should go, for the fact that its used as spam.
But I like the 'How famous...' thread, I use it to see what people rate me. :8

just put the sub under spam tbh, you can still use it to rate others.

So it still works but stop spammers.

if they stop the post count in there, people can just go somewhere else to get their post count up, such as the introduction/leaving forum...
