W3 schools is ok for reference but as tutorals **** is an understatment, for basic html which is a good starting point id suggest reading the html primers on http://htmlgoodies.com then building from there.

Did you just say making a layout in PowerPoint?

Christ, I thought making a layout in MS Word was bad.

I learned by experimenting; I suggest you do the same - the best way of learning.

If you're really serious about learning to make a layout, then you need to know xhtml/css.
If you know html that is great, cos you'll pick up xhtml pretty easy, but if you're really interested in making layouts you should buy a book, because i find sitting in front of a screen just reading and reading makes me tired :P

but yeah, from luke x :)

I just learned by downloading a sample layout then editing it to suit my needs. Then started with my own layouts and went from there. It really is easy.
