The competition marks the introduction of music to Habbo and the launch of the Traxmachine, an online music mixing tool for Habbos. To date, close to 80 million Habbos worldwide have created over 35 million private rooms, now which can be brightened with a range of samples, sounds, noises and tunes. Habbo is the first social networking site to introduce a DJ mixing tool to its community and the Finnish launch proved to be a teen hit with the player becoming the most sold music item of the year within a week.

“Our recent Global Youth Survey which was conducted with the Habbo user community yielded 42,000 responses – and 88% of teenagers around the world highlighted a real love for tunes,” says Lost_Witness at Habbo UK. “Habbo is known as an environment for teens to be creative and self-expressive and one of the best ways to demonstrate this is through music. We want to help nurture the DJs of the future – and an online tool is a great step in getting there.”
To enter the competition, Habbos need to mix up their tune using the Traxmachine, which also comes with 24 different sound sets made in co-operation with famous DJs and ranging from ambient sounds to disco, electro, rock, punk and funk. In the competition Habbos will vote on their most liked tracks creating a shortlist of tunes to be judged by an online panel. Habbo UK will also be continuously updating the “Top of the Pops”, by adding the best to a network of club rooms that represent the different music genres.
