Big Brother Facts
The show was invented by John de Mol of the Netherlands and developed by his production company, Endemol.
It has been a prime-time hit in 19 different countries, earning Endemol large sums.
The show's name comes from George Orwell's famous 1949 novel 1984, a dystopia in which Big Brother is the all-seeing leader.
The original house took 75 workmen 131 days to build using 20km of cable, 57 mirrors, 33 cameras and 50 microphones.
The housemates are given a lawnmower to keep the grass tidy. Only Shell Jubin has used it naked.
There are seven different breeds of chicken in the Big Brother house, each was chosen for suitable looks and compatibility.
The temperature in the BB pool is kept at a constant 28 degrees celcius.
