View Full Version : Phone bill

So, i've rang a few people i know over the internet, and i had to ring their mobile phones, which you can guess would cost a bit, most of them were under an hour, as i had to get off because my parents told me. But, the last two where to someone in wales, and to their mobile, which would cost quite a bit, and they lasted over an hour, one was over 3 hours and i did it without my parents permission, so i'm really going to be killed when my parents find out, and i really don't know what to do.
Normally with just one phone call to the person in wales, the phone bill is over £100, but this is about 3, and one of them being pretty long is think would make the phone bill alot of money, and without my parents knowing i did it, it will make it whole lot worser, i'm just so worried about what they'll do, so i'm considering making up some lie about falling asleep on the phone or something, and not realising it was still on it till i woke up, to see if they believe that, and to see if i get out of less trouble or some other lie, or just telling the truth.
I know how my parents have gone before, they yelled at me and said i couldn't ring anyone again, and if i asked, they said i was only allowed 15/20 minutes, so at this rate, i'm guessing they'll take my mobile as well as stopping me talking to people, and thats pretty much my only contact besides the computer with my girlfriend, and for reasons i can't say, they won't take the computer, but i do need other forms of contact. What the hell should i do? This is really scaring as well as upsetting me, i just need some idea. :(

Wow, it's really all my fault? Seriously, i never realised.
Arghh my latest mob bill was £170 and iv got to pay for that myself so it makes it worse in ways i spose but in ways better.
The only advice i could giv u is to be honest and think before you dial? Mehh

That made me lol. Don't you realise people have got to accept the call and they charge twice as much and that wouldn't be nice for a friend would it.
Anyway all I can say is don't lie. Your mum and dad will be even more angry with you if you lie to them. Just tell them the truth, take the punishment and it's all over with. You learn from your mistakes so you'll know never to do it again.
If you lie you still have it in the back of you mind wondering if they're ever gonna find out and say one day they do you will be in so much trouble from what I can gather. So I would just tell the truth if I was you and take the punishment like a man if you want to call it that :)

Ive done this when i was a sad habbo addict.
got loads of creds. and my dad went sick.
im a sad fart.
Errm that's a pickle...
But the best thing to do is to say the truth and face your punishment...
If it was 4 years ago [when i was 13] and did something like that i would have got a red bottom :( so don't accpect to get off easy.
Or you could lie and say you forgot to put the phone down or put it down the wrong way... But if i had lost about £300 i would be raged and i wouldn't care about what happened i would only care about the result.

My phone bill is like $150-160/month now but once when I first got a cell I went on the internet and I thought it wouldn't cost that much and then the bill came.. $200 FOR BEING ON THE INTERNET!
My mom was ****ssseddddd

Sorry but all i can say is that this is entirely your fault. I'm not saying it;s wrong for you to call your friends or whatever but surely ou knew that the calls were expensive and yet you stayed on for those periods of time.
I don't really have any advice, but the "be honest and face the consequences" suggestion doesn't sound unreasonable.

I would say you need to find some way to help pay the bill. Do you have a part-time job or do you have any surplus stuff that you could sell to raise some money. Other than that perhaps offer to do chores to work it off. Maybe get a mobile with a lot of free minutes per month if you can.
Your guilt is probably harder to bear than the consequences. When is the bill due?

we pay the bill quartlery (every 3 months) and it usually comes to around £250, not including internet, but we do ring Ireland and mobiles a lot so it could be the cause :P

Use skype in the future?
Also, tell them about this first. Its better than you willingly telling them, then they finding out. Try to reason with them, and tell them you will pay them back via installments?

How about going out and getting a real life girlfriend or meeting up with this girl, it's pointless e-dating if your not going to meeting her. E-dating is really low.
Or getting a part time job over holidays (nearly over but meh) and then buying credit on your mobile? Srsly.

i'd agree with people that have aid try and pay at least some of the bill by getting a part time job. (if your old enough) if not offer to walk neighbours dogs/wash cars etc. for a bit of extra cash.

Errrr, don't lie.. I'd just tell them now.
If you want to check how much the bill is up to, ring 150 and follow the things till you get too it.
I did it like 3 times, getting £300-800 phone bills, now my mum has put some block on the phone so you cant ring anyone lol.
Get a mobile on contract? - Like U-Fix, I get 300 free mins a month and 30 texts, for £15.. Then if I want to use it more, I have to top up lol.
