I did the one on persuading teens not to smoke. Found it fairly easy, although section A was abit more difficult. Will just have to see what the results say :D.

I did Higher AQA, and the questions for Section A looked like they had been written last minute to be honest. I did Question 3 is Section B, and wrote a little story into my article in 2nd person. I was well pleased :P

I did AQA higher, I thought it was hard (obviously not as clever as you lot xD)

For section B I done where you write an article for a magazine to persuade teens not to smoke.

For Question 3 I was for the view. Mentioned how it can keep you safe, even mentioned what to do if it distracts leassons. was quite pleased.

I did AQA Higher. I thought the question 1 a and b were weird, and I found myself repeating a lot of what I had already said. I did question 3 in section 2.

Yeah, I found 1a and b pretty iffy. I didn't realise there were two sides to the BBC article until I had written a fair amount :x bloomin' carphone warehouse advert was covering it.

i did aqa higher, and i thought it was so easier. i really have not seen an easy paper during my mocks & everything.
i did question 5 section b, the money one. i'm yet to find someone else who did it LOL. i just truned it into a joke 8-) like, i pretended to be some old owman who had found out this boy had inherited some money & then i like, told him he should buy the bowls club new t-shirts since he was such a little annoyance.

AQA Higher (:
1-2 was SO hard (LMAO).
i did number 4, about the smoking stuff.
I even added my own little quote at the end (:
"one day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching."

it was hard tbh ):

I did that to, I wondered why there wasnt 6 marks worth of facts and opinions!

AQA higher.

It was probably the easiest higher english paper one paper I've seen throughout all my two years of GCSEs. (Past papers etc)

The subject (smoking and mobile phones) was an easy-to-write about subject.

It was suprising that they used a website as a media source though; that's never been done before.

The questions were easy too, language was probably the hardest, but 8 marks for comparing use of pictures and layout -- EASY.

I did the arguement for/against banning phones in school.
I argued for it, because I knew that the majority of people would choose the argue question, and would choose their own opinion, so I decided to be controversial to give the examiner a change.

I found it generally easy, but I find English easy anyway. I was looking forward to this exam because I like writing, I'm looking forward to thursdays more though... DESCRIPTIVE WRITING <3

Don't worry about it. Yes the poetry is hard just try to remember to compare, just as you were comparing the two media pieces today.

Descriptive writing is easy, choose the descriptive question.
Do NOT write about something that is REAL.
If you write about something that is real, you can only say a limited amount of things, whereas if you make something up... you can say lots.

I.E
Describe the room you are in... describe it as a forest full of pixies, not a hall with chairs and tables.

Describe yourself... instead of scrawny tall mousy haired, personify an object into yourself, I described myself as a dead tree in my mock and got an A*

Describe a Hobby... MAKE ONE UP! Leaf eating, tree hugging, turning into an animal would be good, instead of football computers drama.

That's the only advice I can give :)

I never do the descriptive questions because every time i have attempted one i end up doing half a page and completely running out of ideas. I tend to do the explain ones.

Before we left for exams, out English teacher kept drilling that into our heads. I might just try it out this time ;>

English is easy if you know how to write aload of crap and make it sound real.

Like in poetry/media don't say the writer could be saying, say the writer IS saying.

It's your analogy they are after :)

In descriptive writing though, why describe something real when you can MAKE SOMETHING UP!!

someone said it earlier in the thread, be different. always put your own spin on the question. like, a past paper i did once said describe your favourite holiday destination? don't just choose somewhere like "spain" or whatever, because it'll be so popular, choose something different.
i mean, it's not something i've ever been told, but i'm a* english student (or so i'm predicted) so, it works i suppose (:

I thought it was a stupid idea, that mobile phones could be linked to smoking. I was like what the???

But I did the old people and technology, never sounded so patronising in anything I have done. Wrote like 8 pages and worked for the whole hour and 45.

Ha.

I did WJEC Higher. It was really easy :)! The paper involved an extract on which we had to answer 4 questions, each of which was easy. We then have to write a short descriptive piece and then a short story based on a personal experience. All of which I had no trouble with whatsoever. Overall, it was a babe :).

Ha.

It was utter crap. Butttt English mostly is utter crap, all your answers are all crap, you don't know why a writer has used a certain technique, you don't even know if they just put it in without thinking, buttt it's about making something of what you can get out of the piece :)

AQA Higher. I'm not sure how I did. I think for section A, I wrote more on one thing than the other so I could lose marks. Section B, did question 3 but didn't finish.
