----------------GAMESPY REPORT THING-----------------------------

With games like Wii Sports, Wario Ware, Mario Party and Wii Play, it's easy to see how the Nintendo Wii has gained something of a reputation for being the party game system of choice. The latest collection of bite-sized challenges is coming from UbiSoft and stars those adorable screaming bunnies. While there were some moments of severe embarrassment during our demo of Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, it was all in good, wacky fun.

One of the most hilarious mini-games I think I've ever played was part of this demo. Spittoon takes place in a bar, and the barkeep is serving up some tasty-looking pints. (I'm already sold at this point.) The trouble-making bunnies are on the top floor, leaning over the railing that overlooks the counter where the drinks are set. Their objective is to dribble a long wad of spit, which they then swing left and right until they decide to release it, hopefully dropping the disgusting dollop of salivary nastiness into one of the steins below.

While the concept alone is brilliant, the way it actually plays is loads of fun as well. You'll shake the controller up and down to simulate chewing, which produces the spit, or "carrot juice" as the UbiSoft representative giving the demonstration explained. Then, you have to watch the swinging momentum of the saliva pendulum, made easier by a small color-coded tracking light that moves along the top of the bar, giving you an idea of where your glob will land.

One of the other mini-games available for play was a take on the beloved sport of baseball, but Raving Rabbids-style. In this game, you take control of one bunny as he runs full-tilt from first, to second and then third base, hopefully building up a meter full of momentum and speed. Once you've rounded third, he'll leap into the air, screaming all the way, towards another Rabbid waiting in the batter's box. At this point, you simply have to swing for the fences, and with a proper smack of the bat, launch the first poor bunny out of the park.

One moment that I could have lived without took place when three gentlemen and I played the Rodeo game. Ordinarily it wouldn't have been too bad, except we were being filmed during this part of the demonstration. Even if you're not normally camera-shy, it can be difficult to keep a straight face when holding the Wii remote and furiously sliding it back and forth or in circular motions. It gets even worse when players on either side of you are doing the same while onlookers point and laugh.

We got over our embarrassment soon enough, though, and found that duplicating the motions of the mounted Rabbids on-screen was still good fun. This mini-game treated us to all sorts of on-screen eye-candy, as failing to perfectly time the movements of the controller with the motion of the bunnies on their mechanical horses resulted in environmental objects flying everywhere as well as that unforgettable "waaaagh!" scream.

We didn't see much of Rayman at all in Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, and at this point, the bunnies have clearly become the stars of the show. The costumes they can wear give them a nice touch of personality, whether they're dressed up like Spider-Man or Naruto, for instance, so I don't see myself missing the limbless hero from Ubi's earlier years. I also appreciate the emphasis on multiplayer this time around, with most games being available for four simultaneous players instead of two. We're eagerly looking forward to more tongue-in-cheek humor and party-friendly fun from Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 and will report on more of the game as soon as we can.

Well I didn't play the Wii version.

I might buy the Wii + Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 when it comes out maybe.

I dunno, but I just didn't like the first one on PS2
