Hey all, well for a few years I've used the internet. First I went on a little now I'm hardly off it (I mean it), and it's making me sad, fed up and many other problems.

My dad is constantly moaning at me - this makes me sad and angry towards him. Angriness generated by my obsession of using the web/computer, sad because he gets fed up. He says I should get a life etc - I think I need one.

I am online ever such a lot. I live in a wonderful place (Spain), where many people would love to live yet I'm always on the computer. So many other things I could do.

My eyesight is also bad due to the computer. I now need glasses, and without them I can't see well. My dads friend said he had that when he was always on it, now he's fine. Maybe my eyes could get back to normal, or will they always be damaged? It's short-sightedness (where you can't see long distances).

What things could I do? Go out with mates, go down the town or a bus to the city place - there's bowling, arcades the beach. So much to do. What should I do?

So I'm thinking of hardly using the computer - it's hard because I'm always on it - I wish I wasn't. :( You could say I'm obsessed, but there's so much to do on the web, yet I don't want to make my real life worse.

I'd only come on to post a little I suppose, and look at what us boys look at. ;)

Anyway, please reply. Thank you.

It is hard and you get bored without the computer and such but if you start doing more stuff in real life, you'll get used to it and it'll be the oposite then. You'll use the computer when you can be bothered and you'll be out in real life all the time.

I'm not one to moan at you, I can hardly moan myself I'm on the PC an awful lot and my mum moans at me but it's just the same with her - she goes to the pub at weekend and sometimes during week, it makes her happy. I go on my PC - it makes me happy.

But just trust me if you've got real life friends and they want you to go out and stuff just go out, forget the computer once you're out you'll enjoy it and you'll start going out more. Try and find a hobby - football or anything what takes your mind off it. Then once you get in you'll enjoy the computer for whatever length you go on it, an hour or so. It's pretty simple or if you want get a "computer time" a limit the time the computers aloud on. Tell your mum to type in a pass and don't let you know the pass then you've basically locked you're computer.

There's many of stuff you can do. :)

Meh, why quit, just priortise other stuff. What are the alternatives, when you have a day with nout to do, zoneing out and watching tv is even less constrcuive. Pc's fun, interesting and fills in the bordem.
When there is somthing to do, go do that instead, use the pc and internet for when nout betters happening o.0

I think he could do without the sarcasm, he’s asking for help here guys. :S

Get your self a hobby like football or something you’re interested it. You’ll meet new friends, keep fit and won’t be on the computer as much as you were before.

Concurred.

I go out Saturdays and days I have off work and spend my evenings online. (Unless there's a decent party to go to.)

Just make sure you do spend as much time as you can out and then the rest of your time can revolve around home activities.

I just read in another of your posts your 14, right?
Well get your moped license and get a ped, life's much better here when you have one trust me, and go out down the clubs at night in Fuengirola or Benalmadena if you live near them as I do, good way to meet people, and don't worry you will be able to get in.

Thanks to everybody with something to say that was constructive. I saw them all, but I'm mainly replying to the one beneath because it's caught my attention. Thanks everybody, I'm going to limit my time to two hours a day or so.

Hey man, I live near Benidorm (costa blanca). I thought the laws changed in January and it's 16 now, or is it still 14? I *was* going to get one, however I read in a book it had just changed.

There's plenty of clubs in Benidorm :D

As what was said above really, keep going out and finding stuff to do.

2 hours is a good amount to have I think :) find people to hang around with and then you won't think about the computer, your area sounds great for teenagers so you shouldn't have much of a problem :)

I probably spend too much time on my computer too, I'm usually on from about 4:30pm-12am weekdays and longer at weekends but I don't think its a problem, I will often just wastch TV from my computer and leave it doing whatever its doing (torrenting etc)

If you think its a problem you should leave it for a while

eyesight isn't affected by the amount of time on the computer (or so says my optician), age affects it, so you don't have to worry about that.

just take some time out to do something difference once in a while until you eventually get bored of the computer.

Just do it slowly. Limit yourself lesser and lesser time on the net everyday :)

There's so many people in your position, just your probably one of the few to actually own up, or even care.
I feel exactly the same about myself and the computer even though i'm out alot with friends. I think being on the net and having an internet life does cause depression - don't ask why 'cos I don't know why; it just does. ;D

What I try and do is make a scheduled time for you to come on to the computer, else when you're bored you just automatically come on to the computer - 'cos you think its the only thing to do. (well I do anyway.) I only go on habbo when i'm DJ'ing just because of the reason that it's addictive and I don't want to get back in to the habbo thing like I did years ago.
Try and get back in to the swing of calling friends and finding out what they're upto, it might take a couple of weeks to get back into it but its worth it in the long run.
Try to like just come on the net at night or something for a couple of hours - you don't feel as sad then 'cos its not light and there isn't much else you can be doing!
I also play netball - and that helps, having a sport for a hobby gets you out of the house - even when you're not playing a match, just go out to practise when there isn't anythign else to do. So yeah I suggest football, just bacause its fitt to watch tbh. ;]
Try and remember that when you're older, the internet becomes less and less appealing and that's when you will need your social life - so start improving it now. ;DI also want to say well done for actually confessing. - even though some people are being sarcastic about it, loads of habbo players are in a worse position than you, on the net day+night; and some would never own up to being obsessed and say that it's sad, let alone wanting to get out more.
:]

P.S If you're wondering why i'm posting this so early + why i'm not out after giving advice on the matter - its 'cos I got up thinking I had an exam, when it isn't for another 4 hours rofl. Revision sucks ;]

i would just pack it in completely and get your dad to cut off the internet line so you have no choice but to do the other things e.g beach, sports, cinema etc.
