What good is thinking when you're dead in the mind?

What good is humour when the joke is on you?
What good is promise when there's no follow through?
What good is working when the future is cruel?
What good is knowledge when it carries no truth?

What good is honour when chivalry's dead?
What good is choosing when there's nowhere to tread?
What good is caring when it's never been said?
What good is talent when your ego's not fed?

What good is eyesight when there's nothing to see?
What good is trying when you're already free?
What good is preaching when nobody believes?
What good is wisdom when there's no-one to teach?

What good is dreaming when you're always unsure?
What good is healing when there's no-one to cure?
What good is chasing when there's no way to lure?
What good is power when it doesn't endure?

Good work. I liked the rhyming, however, the effect that you have used of the stanzas being in the same format flaws the poem, simply because it is the same thing for far too long.

True, it was originally just going to be the first four lines which I wrote when I got annoyed at something (can't remember what now), but then I got into the mood and just kept going. Certainly not the best of my poems, but the easiest to understand by far ^^
