If you spend alot of time indoors this happens, you should go out for a walk or cycle about 6 o'clock or so before your body starts shutting down, but so your a lil worn out so you can get sleep easy.
I find this helps anyway.

Yah, exercise helps. Try to find some really music that drones with a heavy bass line. Not too fast, either. I also found eating, smoking or drinking things like tea or hot chocolate affected my sleeping pattern, too.

Weekends and school holidays, do you usually stay up really late? Sometimes your body clock can go really off. When it came to starting a work placement after the 10 or 11 weeks I had off when I finished school I really had to work hard to get back into the routine of sleeping properly.

Keeping a routine of getting up and going to bed at a sensible time, even if it means you have to lay awake at night until you fall asleep it should have an effect on your sleeping pattern.
