Is this being done use imagettftext(), or imagecopy() with loads of images for different letters?

imagettftext using ttf fonts :P

Not really hard, I still have to make it to not display errors if fonts are not defined and also add a default font and size..

Simple, do file_exists() on the font specified, if the .ttf doesn't exist re-set the font variable to a default one.
