It's slightly humerous the whole article.
"The Church feels the use of Manchester as a setting for the shoot-out game is particularly inappropriate because of the city's history of gun violence."
Ah, so it is very appropriate then? Showing gun violentcein a place that has a history of it makes it right at home. Especially something as fictional and real. I am being sarcastic if you really want to know. It's very petty of the church, and you nearly never need to ask for permission to use a building in a game. Since when was a landmark a trademark, by the way?
I am sleepy, so if you make sense of any of my posts I'll give you sweets.

Yea the whole thing about gun history seems a little stupid, but this thing is the church is against violence, then Sony put a probably almost identicle copy of the church in a violent game without any permission, it's just how religions are, I think religion is stupid but it's what they believe and people should really think about that

I find it petty that they want permission, even though you really don't in most cases. If the game was wholly based around it, then they probably would, but I imagine it is just one level/fragment of the game? If you need permission for buildings, then The Getaway would still be seeking permission "/
I suppose we just have to live with religions causing a petty fuss over something as irrational as this. I understand the violence, I can agree to some extent, but I do't agree with the permission rubbish.

I would use the term mis-guided. I believe that the thought of God or gods is just some imaginary, non-physical thing in your mind which you discuss your thoughts with, and you somehow gain a rational thought process of what you are discussing, and come up with an idea which is influenced by Godly teachings through preachings or from the bible. That's how I see religion or God/gods. People solve their own problems but call that problem solving thing in their mind God, and they don't notice it was all their own doing.
If that makes sense? Anyway, this is a console forum not a religion forum :P

To be honest, it's a joke. Sony used a massive landmark of Manchester in a game without permission, and Manchester's trying its hardest to get away from it's gun history.

Doubt it, the Church doesn't want it, and if Sony wins a court case against a church and takes quite a lot of money from it then they'll look evil or something lol

Does the church have a leg to stand on though? Its not like its trademark. It would be like putting the Statue of Liberty in a game without askin the permision from the Mayor of New York

Yea but the point is, they don't want the church in the game, if it's not wanted then it has to be removed, if they put your house in a game and you didn't like it you'd want it removed, it's the same with the church, they do not want to be on that game, especially with violence happening inside

Sony can't be forced to though can they. Kate Moss might not want a pic in The Sun of her snorting cocain, but do they care? Not really.

Yes but the church deserves the right to have it removed from the game, churches are holy, religious, that religion in perticular is against violence, that church being featured in a game where you go about killing tons of aliens inside of it promotes violence, and might make the church look bad in the eyes of people in the community, the church may not have trademark but it's a holy landmark and if they don't want it used in Resistance then they have every right to object to it, it doesn't matter what you say or believe it's what they believe, you need to think about it from a religious persons point of view to understand why they don't want that type of thing happening in a version of the church that looks almost exactly the same, I think they can do what they want, they have a good reason to have it removed so they can't really be laughed at or called idiots or something
