I'm finding it increasingly hard to look at things which are about 6/7 metres away+, I have to really concentrate and it hurts my eyes a little bit. This mainly is difficult at school, looking at the board from mid-way or from the back of the class room. I think I should perhaps see the opticians, and it wouldn't surprise me if I needed glass's, plus my dad already does.

I don't want to tell anyone or go to the opticians since I might end up with glass's for seeing things far away. I really don't want glass's as they look silly. You could say what about contact lenses, but apperantly you have to wear glass's for a year first :( And you have to wait till your 18 for laser sergery...

Shall I just live with it? I doubt it's effecting my work yet, just hurts a little.

What would you do, and what do you suggest. Thanks :)

I have the same problem. But i do have glasses but I never wear them at school, its just the feeling when you first put them on you get some stupid name calls "/ Sometimes I wear them at home for the tv but that's about it.

Actually I asked my optician a couple weeks ago about laser eye surgery, and you've got to be 27 apparently.

I wear contacts all the time, then just glasses at night for watching tv etc. When I wore glasses I wasn't ever called any names. I didn't realise you had to wear glasses for a year before you could have contacts though. ;s

If you can't see the board at school, ask if you can sit near the front?

I'd go to the opticians if I were you though.

You should see your opticiant, i guess, and if you've got a small minus, then you only have to wear them for a certain time a day, eg. 4-5 hours, :). so no need to wear them at school, when you're lucky.
i didin't know allso that you have to wear glasses for a year :o. Alltough, you have to be 18 to get laser surgery, but it's even better, whne your 20 or so, so your eyes are aren't developing(sp?) anymore :)

Hope it helps, even a bit.

I suppose there is three things:

1. Don't wear the glasses, struggle seeing the board and may effect your work. May make your eyesight worse and cause headaches.
2. Wear the glasses just when you need to see the board and then take them off so you aren't getting eyestrain and this means you're not wearing them permanently but I could see people noticing you more if you did this rather than just leaving them on all day.
3. Deal with wearing the glasses for a year and then wear the contacts.

I'd choose which you think is best. Personally I'd pick option 2 but there is nothing wrong with the other two. It's what ever is comfortable and right for you.

If I was you, go to the Opticians. I wouldn't care what people say. If you like them, then its your opinion. To be honest, people who take the michael out of you, are just attention seekers.

Like I wore glasses a year or so back, I got called names. Basically told the attention seekers to get a life, and then it stopped.

I hope this helps.

As for your comment "glasses look silly", I think it'd only be you who'd look silly. ;)

alot of glasses are very fashionable to wear now, go for a test. if you dont then your eyes might get so bad you would have to wear glasses all the time instead of just for reading/looking at the board etc.

As a glasses wearer, I should know that glasses don't look silly. Some don't suit me, so I don't get those ones, I go for the ones that do suit me. Any decent optician will stock a wide range of frames, and there WILL be one there that suits you. I've worn glasses almost all my life, and each time I've gone to the optician to choose some new glasses, I've found some to suit me.

They will improve your eyesight, and I bet you'll be glad of it. Nobody makes fun of me, or anyone else at school for wearing glasses, and if someone does start, all us speckies gang up on them ^_^! :8:8:8

I wear daily contact lenses, and its not a huge bill. I have to pay for them myself and its not exactly huge amounts of money. The only reason I dont like glasses is because I used to have them, and the glass broke into my eye. No severe damage, but I would just hate for it to happen again. I love my contacts <3

is one of your eyes alot worse than your other one? i'd go to the opticians if i was you. but if one of your eyes is alot worse like i asked, then be prepared for them to tell you that your eye won't improve much. unless that's something wrong with mine. anyway, no one bullies you over them. it's not like you're a yr7 where all the kids are like "LOL SPECKY!"!"41!". and as people said, if you need glasses then get some fasionable ones.

Well, recently I had to get glasses for exacly the same reason. I got headaches and suffered. So I went to the opticions and got some glasses. Most of my class mates dont say anything and just mess around with my case so im fine with it.

You should really get glasses. Get it over with and then you can wear contact lenses after that. It is not worth not getting glasses as it affects your work.

Get the one month lenses, that you can keep in your eyes for a month, :O.
Don't have to take them out of your eyes for a month, atleast they sell them in Estonia :D:D:D, I'm wearing daily lenses now on <3.
