Thats what I was thinking oops! Maybe you should have used a word to describe it instead. I totally agree I have always thought that the words for poo and bum shouldn't be filtered. If you are rude with it then then an infraction for that applies. Only trouble is that they are still filtered on Habbo so I dont suppose there is much chance.

yeah but some of the things that are allowed on here are strictly not allowed on habbo, such as emails, myspace etc.

Yes but there is a limit. I am sure someone can make a post without swearing. There are words like idiots, stupid etc.

Yes I know but that is not a substitute for the words for poo and bum is it which is quite mild and calling people idiots and stupid is quite rude anyway.

I was thinking more like when someone says Oh ***** I have been stupid today or I am a right dumb ***. things like that. Anyway its Matts thread. =]

Why would you need to say them words any way :S It would only encourage people to use it constantly and use it disruptivly.

Swearing of any sort only encourages fighting, which in turn makes people upset and distressed, its not a good idea to change the word filter and make it less strict as people just use it as an opportunity to break rules and offend other members. You might not find some words offencive but some members, may find it offensively and it is not the right attitude to have in the presence of younger members. :)

Sorry, you must have miss understood me, I wasnt saying say it to someone. I meant things like "my computer is being stupid". You dont need to cuss or swear in order to say that sentence.

Eventually, it would appear they give in to public demand. Just look at the E-mail/Personal webpage saga's.

But, 1 area I'm sure will always stay is the filtering of swear words.
Why say "***" when you can say "Bottom"
Why say "****" when you can say "Poo"
Why say "****" when you can say "Flip"
Why say "*******" - it's just offensive

Obviously if you're going to use those words in an offensive manner, then you sound a right plank, but the Forum (this may come as a surprise to some of you) isn't trying to create conflict between users, it is meant to moderate / rid arguments.

Well I can see what you are saying smiddy but the words for poo and bum are very common in real life and quite honestly don't offend anybody.

Maybe they haven't offended anyone you've come across, but their may be someone on the forum with strong religious beliefs who account swearing as offensive.

I know, it is very common language for kids even at the age of 7 now (which is alarming) - but honestly, if their parents caught them swearing, either online or in real life, think they'd be let off lightly? (at the age of around 11 - 13)

Todays problem is the amount of adults that swear in front of younger children just increases the chances they will copy them and use the same language in later life. These days far to many people swear and its very common, however it isn't good and its not to say that some people come from well brought up families which do not swear at all. So for the sake of everyone filtering words and stopping offencive language of any kind is the best option.

Well I dont think that people think that these words are really swear words these days i.e. the ones for poo and bum but just my opinion. I can't imagine anybody's parents telling them off for those words at the age of 11. I do see your point about religious beliefs but these words are even used before the water shed on TV so Habbox filtering them isn't really making much of a difference. Obviously the more offensive words should be filtered. =]

:P Sorry maybe my point came across totally wrong. Basically I agree words such as "poo", "bum" etc are something that should be allowed but anything slightly worse and more offencive which could be classed as swearing shouldn't be allowed. You have to look at the wider audience and consider that fact that any words that are slightly more offencive than the onces I just mentions shouldn't be allowed as different people read them and think about them in different ways, some people may not have a problem with those words or may find them funny or put across in a joking way but other people may find them offencive. Anything that you see on day time television should be allowed to be said, anything slightly more offencive should be filtered, if you want to look at it that way.

although i do swear alot offline (ahaha) i like the filter.
it sort of keeps things civil.

i know for a fact i wouldn't feel too happy or respected in a community where everyone was like "**** YEAH, YOU ******* ****. I LOVE YOU YOU MOTHER******! YOU'RE THE ******* BOMB."
i like the filter, it keeps manners high (: i like good manners.

Your completely right saying that, it doesn't feel like a community or very friendly or welcoming when everyone goes on like that and I'm sure the filter avoids many fights and misunderstandings. Overall its a good thing because it keep the community as a community.

I swear alot offline, far too much probably. However, it's not very welcoming to see all that language used on a forum where it is a "community". There isn't anything wrong with it and you can still swear and have the stars, im sure many of you can work out whats behind the stars anyway?

Just swear off the forum, it's not life threating to do so.

Jazza

We may know whats behind the stars but thats not the point. It makes the forum look much less mature than a great deal of the members are.
