Why is:

**** filtered. It's a shortening of the term 'Pakistan' or 'Pakistani'. If you have to filter that, why isn't British or Brit filtered...

Because a lot of people would find it racially offensive, and i'm pretty sure it's under the government's racist/not politically correct words list.

Liam!

that's really stupid.

iraqi, brit and aussie should be filtered then.

Axel

Because idiots use it as an insult, so it's best to filter it.

Although it is "pollitically incorrect" to say that word it should not be filtered unless you filter, scouser, iraqi, aussie and other words like that.

**** is a shortened work for pakinstani or someone from pakistan, if people from pakistan can say it then we should be allowed to aswell without been called racist.

Its stupid imo.

If thats so called 'racist' - so should Brit, Aussie, Iraqi and things.

no, Paks is the shortened word which is used in eastern countries. There isn't much problems in putting 5 extra letters to a word you probably barely ever use. It's like saying the N word is just a nickname for black people.

I have removed it from the filter as its not really a swear word. If people use it in an offensive or racist way, they will be infractioned :).

Thanks Mad you know it made sense :D

@jurai - So gay, lesbian, english, white ect should be filtered then, because people can take offence to them too.

Racism is far worse than anti Gay words. (In my own opinion)

I think that will create problems for future users when they have their first browse of the forum and see 'yeah i need to pop down the **** shop'

I think that you will find in any reference book or dictionary the word is classed as most derogatory towards people of asian descent in the same way as the N word is for African/American. This does not apply in the same way as Aussie or Brit. Anyway offensive and adult terms are filtered on the forum as well as swearing.

Pakistani. I don't see why it should be filtered? I think it's unfiltered now.

Its filtered because it can be easily used in a racially offensive or derogatory manner, and the only place you would ever actually need to use the abbreviation on this forum, is if you were referring to a group of people from Pakistan, in the context you are talking about. Strangely enough, it isn't often that a group of people (from any country) are mentioned on this forum in an abreviated fashion.

I'm pretty sure you would laugh at anybody who said "Shut up you Brit", and wouldn't take it as a derogatory or offensive manner. If somebody did say something like that, and you did find it offensive, you could just -rep them or report it to a moderator :)

Exactly. Its not the word that is bad its the way it is used amd the label it carrys. It IS a racist term used by small minded idiotic people. I have friends who are darker skinned/ indian/ mixed race etc and they have been shouted it in the streets and spat on, so yes, i do think it is an offensive term.
people from packistan are packistanis. If you want to talk about them on the forum then say that. if you are speaking about another middle easten race then call them by there proper name or just say middle easten.
Its different to calling someone an "aussie" because the word aussie doesnt get used as an insult by small minded people.

I really do not see why this word has been unfiltered. The term "****" is not an official abbreviation for the word "Pakistani" at all, it's simply a disparaging term that anyone of Pakistani decent generally finds offensive.

Totally agree. The P and the O word that have been infiltered are also still filtered by habbo whereas Brit and Aussie aren't so it certainly shows that they agree too.

No. Because the term 'Aussie' isn't a term regularly used in a derogatory way. It's friendly slang, whereas '****' is offensive slang referring to Pakistani people, or people of middle eastern descent, even if they are not from Pakistan. It's an offensive term and should never have been unfiltered.

I doubt there is more then 3 Pakistani people on these forums, maybe ask them if they find it offensive. Wait a minute, Pakistani.. why not just say that :P

Honestly Aight, whilst I admire you very much, but you do seem to write your messages before the brain has had a chance to engage or you havent had your cornflakes yet which is a syndrome I suffer from. On what grounds or evidence do you assume that there are no more than 3. I can think of at least 5 amongst the people I know and there are about 30,0000 members approx of whom there is a pretty good chance that quite a proportion are of an ethnic minority. In any event it would not matter if there were none it does not alter the fact it is considered universally to be an offensive word. Pakistani is not an offensive word - it is just the abbreviation that is.

le harry

I'm not talking about the ethnic community, just the Pakistani people on these forums. Do you think I meant there are only 3 different cultures I guess you could say that are on these forums? I have never on my 2 years of being on these forums met someone that is not from Europe / Australia / America etc (white cultures simply, being to the point, sorry if your offended by that), well maybe I have but just never noted it.. Who was called a "****", I'm guessing that somebody was infractioned from using it and came here to complain about why it was filtered? If they found it offensive I see what you mean, but under the circumstances I fail to see how it can be used offensivly if the person is not pakistani? I'm muddled :(

Well in my time as a forum mod and smod that and the N word were by far and away the most used offensively on the forum. This was quite a common occurence and by no means at all rare. A racist remark is a racist remark at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if there are 3 or 3 hundred members a racially motivated thread/post is against the rules. There must have been a good reason it was included in the filter in the first place not only here but on Habbo as well. So there should also be a good logical reason to remove it from the filter. Following the present decision the N word should be removed too but I hope not.

i really don't believe that word should have been unfiltered. the word for people from pakistan is pakistani.
i'm not being funny, but it's rather insensitive to unfilter this word when there could be asians offended by its usage, whatever context it's in.
