It makes perfect sense, actually.
A lot of teenagers become very confused with their sexuality and cannot figure out whether they are straight/gay/bi and for this reason sometimes just try to believe they are one of them to stop the confusion, later to realise it was just a part of growing up.

When i came out I said I was bi. It didn't seem as bad as gay would of. Now my friends know i'm gay though ^_^

But whatever you mean, i was bi, or so i thought at first, and then i realised i was gay.
