How could I do this, I have apache set up and it works fine when me and others go to my domain, however only html works :(

how could I get mysql databases and php to work ???

Also could I install a control panel to it to allow other people to make websites through my pc???

If so I will use various old pcs here as small servers :)

Also how could I set up a domain to work with this and not my ip as people can mess up my router with my ip :( damn belkin not been secured yet

thanks.awelsh

tnx to both so far, +rep now

I will infact only be using it on my laptop for now just to test everything, if all goes to plan ill wipe my other pc for it

you think that VM Broadband and AOL will be fast enough??

No where as near as fast as a normal server.... but it won't exactly be dead slow.

its more of a low middleish .... but i woudn't personally do it, the only time i have is when i installed wamp and used it for ftp / download purposes because i coudn't be bothered to send someone something over msn

ill only really be using it for sending files to other pcs in the house and to connect to certain things in schoolso speed doesnt really matter

Wouldnt it be better just quicker/easier to have a webpage for school and setup a network at home?

network at home doesnt work properly, ive tried many times, it keep saying that the XP home pc doesnt have enough permissions to connect to my laptop even though the other laptop and pc can :S

And they each have the same permissions and set up with the same details.

I would preffer to have my own non online for school as I can then go to logmein.com too, and the school doesnt work properly with ports

The domain thing you just go to your registrar setup up nameservers put your ip in twice

then on your domain put the nameservers as normal

For example yourdomain.com

go to the registrar its registered with e.g. Namecheap

go to register nameservers

It will have something like

ns1.youdomain.com > IPHERE
ns2.yourdomain.com > IPHERE

IPHERE = Your domain.

The go to youdomain.com nameservers and put in there:

ns1.yourdomain.com
ns2.yourdomain.com

Give it a few hours (upto 24)

then it should work, if not you did something wrong.

ok , I go to add ns1.kw-host.net with the right ip

I have tried

my ip with http:// infront and / at the back

Ive tried it without and with only http://

It keeps saying ip should be in proper format, what else could it be like??

Im using xeodomains btw

should be: http://222.222.22.222
replace the 2's with your ip

Putting your IP as nameserver will not work.

If your using me (xeo domains) msn me and ill help you.

You need to set up A Records and maybe cname records on the domain.
Should be simple to do.
