Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Modern crap like Saw isn't even close to the standard of these kind of horrors.

The SCREAMS are scary the first time you watch them, the way he jumps out :)

Hmmm, are we looking for scariest or our favourite?

The Japanese horrors are totally more 'scary' than English films, like the Japanese Grudge - Ju On is much scarier than the English version. And there was a pretty good Japanese film I saw called the Eye. Obviously I'm not scared, but they are better horrors for scary-rating.

The Hills Have Eyes *shudder*

I thought "28 days later" was crap compared to "Dawn of the Dead", so yeah watch "Dawn of the Dead".

The newer version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The Saw movies don't scare me, they're just erghhh. Gore. Except the fact that Jigsaw looked like Jasper Carrot, that was kinda scary.

I agree, the Hostel movies are just an attempt to make us cringe, but that's like most horror movies I guess.
I have a theory - foreign movies need more of attention, because you need to read the subtitles, you're engaged more, so obviously you jump when something creepy happens, unlike english films where you can watch but not really pay much attention...If that makes sense.

I don't really get scared by horror movies, because I was brought up watching them, so this is a hard question for me.
Night of the Living Dead scared me a bit though, such a good film.
Thinking about it, the Halloween movies creep me out, not so much the movies, just Michael Myers, his mask :x

Well it depends on what you think of as scary, gory films like Hostel and saw III may be scary but I think Halloween H20 has to be the scariest film I've seen in a while.

Scary movies bore me so I tend not to watch them, last horror I saw was Saw 3 and that was just so boring I almost fell asleep, the creepiest movie I've seen is Cube, I don't really get scared by TV/Movies, when something jumps up the first time I see it I obviously react with a mild jump but that's it really
Scariest for me is probably Cube because it's the only I've ever really thought "holy hell where's my covers" for

though i think the rest of the film is crap: the ending of the blair witch project (like the last two minutes) really scares me. i think it's because it's based on a legend. so that may have happened many years ago. i dunno; it's vile.
i don't like the texas chainsaw massacre either, but again, the majority of the film is fine, i just don't like the first 2 minutes when the girl shoots herself.

gore is not my thing.

Cube is a very good film, highly underrated I think. I would say Cube Zero is scarier though as it goes more in-depth on how the Cube works and how it is run.
