Well, your 11 now, and you said you'll get it when your 21, that's 10 years old waiting for it, and things will change, whatever you choose to buy now, will be different in the future.

So, i'd just wait until then, and decide.

When you're 21, you're only going to have £5460 from your gran n grandad (not taking interest into account) lol

Buy a house, not a car.

If you buy a house or save it up for a house, you'll get all or more than all of that money back when you sell the house, as for a car that looses value from the time you drive it off the lot.

Describe
30-06-2007, 10:15 PM
If it was £10 - You would get Ten Thousand Nine Hundred And Twenty.
(At 21)

If it was a fiver - You'd get Five Thousand Four Hundred And Sixty.
Dont hope for a shiny flashy car, and definitley dont hope for 50k!

If they have been doing it since the very first week you were born you will get £260 a year because £5 times 52, times that by 11 and you already have £2860, times the £260 by 21 and you will have £5460 O.O Given interest and that it might be more but £50000, I doubt that.

you wont get 50k. from others have been saying, you will get around 5000+, the interest i doubt would work out to be around 45k.

but lucky for you anyway :P. when you go uni, that money could go towards certain costs. i wouldnt splurge out on silly things as your grandparents gave you that money to spend wisely.

You're 11, don't question someone who is older and wiser and who is a bit more intelligent.

Even at 11 I was able to use a calculator to work out (5 x 52) x 21 and realise it was definately not £50,000. However if you are just saying that to lie then enjoy yourself and keep lying. If you decide to go to university, which you definately should not be thinking about now, maybe save the £5000 or there abouts up for then, if not you could buy a fairly decent used car and insurance.

If that is some kind of insult then I'm not going to be stuck for money either. I'm on £7.81 an hour and just got my first paycheck of £1200. I know I worked for my money so it makes it worth so much more:)

Even if they payed in £15 a month youd only get around £16,300. at £5, £5,400 is more the range.

52 weeks in a year
21 years
21*52 = 1092
thats 1 092 donations of £5, £10 or now £15 *it keeps resiseing*

1092*5 = 5460
Thats £5460 if they put £5 in a month
1092*10 = 10920
Thats £10920 if they put £10 in a month
1092*15 = 16380
Thats £16380 if they put £15 in a month

Now, you may have noticed, none of them total 50Grand. If you were gona get 50G they would have had to have been putting in £45.79 a week up till your 21...

Tbh i dont smell a lier, just someone who's gona majory flunk Math exams.

Whatever you do with however much you get, be grateful to your grandparents for it. If there's one thing society is lacking in besides respect, it's gratitude.

even if it magically turns up to 45-50k why waste it on a nice car? just buy an average-off car and spend the rest wisely? i have no idea why people waste money on such nice cars which can end up to be a target of some disaster.. imo so dont go off on me :D

You see the other people in this thread who are older are seem to be smarter than you can do the calculations. You first said it was 5 a week so that comes to around 5000 when your 21, you changed your mind to 10 a week and that only comes to around 10000, 10000 is still a lot different to the 50 000 you think you're getting. Even with interest at around 10% pa it won't be 50 000.
You've tried to show everyone up and you've only come to an amount that many of the working members of this forum will earn in much less than 21 years. Craig even mentioned he has earned a fifth of your amount in one pay period.

You may change in the next 10 years but basic rules of maths won't.

You should just keep putting money in it until you want to buy a house etc

You'll only get 5460 quid...

52 weeks a year, correct?
5 pound a week, correct?

52*5 (one years amount) = £260

260*21 (lifetime amount) = £5460.

So not 50k :s

£10920 @ 100% intrest.

Effectivley double it.

it would have to be between 400% and 600% intrest
