Although it may look fancy and you may have paid for the features there are a lot more users who have VIP than there are in the platinum usergroup. In times of severe sever strain this idea has the potential to slow down loading pages even further as it takes longer to load 10 .gif images (if all posters on a page are VIP) than to load the basic unanimated VIP image.
If you dont mind running the risk of a slight decrease in page loading time then go ahead but I personally dont see the point considering all the features VIPs have already. :)

I would like the profile fields to have a lot more pointless information like which OS a user prefers or their preferred browser for viewing Habbox, does that mean I automatically get those features just because I want them or I have requested them? :S
No. Wrong. Since when has it ever been like that here, just because 1 user requests something does not mean they will automatically get it without considering any of the potential implications of the feature, granted there aren't many implications for this feature as its just an image. Making general statements about users getting what they want when they want without discussion is completely inappropriate as it just does not happen.

Yes. :rolleyes: Though there was an annoucment to ensure us the server lag wouldnt happen again as the server is twice as goodas before w.e so it wouldnt make any diff. They just moan at anything.

Putting this into perspective:

There are 288 VIPs in total.

There are two platinum members with full sets (going by MAD's 10,000 comment).

An animation for the 288 versus the animation for the 2 would put so much server lag into place. Hollywood was saying "Server lag pfft whatever" but would you like for the future to always have that "Server is Busy" message come up? No, you'd rather faster page loads etc.

The thing is, it would be a huge strain, and the reason we can do it for full sets of platinum stars is that there are like 2 users (who haven't been banned) that got that far ;) Of course the banned users don't get the stars.

That's probably why it wouldn't work. But you do have the green light flashing for online/offline? Also I don't think there's any way for userpips to blink based on offline/online, it would just have to blink 24/7.

Considering the user on/offline you stated, you could pull the get string from the code for that to display "image 1" if online and then "image two" while offline much alike the on/offline image. :]
