A funny way of showing friendship

My best mate and I have been friends for a long time. However, because I get good grades I'm classed as a boff, which makes me less popular. My best mate is average so he's more popular than me.

I wouldn't normally mind, but he keeps taking advantage of it. Whenever he makes a joke, it always has to be on me. It usually involves him calling me fat or ugly. Even though he knows how I feel about people callin me fat. Whenever I try to be serious with him, he makes a joke out of it! I sneak in the odd punch and pretend its friendly as a psychological warning, but it still continues. I didn't think you could be bullied by your best mate.

I can't have a big fight with him either, cos he's nearly 6ft and stronger than me. I don't know what to do!

hes just using you to make himself look big and "popular" or w.e. hes not worth it so just go to him and say if your going to be like this to me, we shouldnt be friends as its not fair on me. ive always been a good friend to you, but you havent been a good one to me.

if he changes and doesnt that the mick, then its alright. if he carries on then just move on and make new friends because he obviously isnt worth the hassle.

Talk to him, when nobody's around. Or invite him to your house. If he continues then don't be his friend.

My best friend did this to me. He called me gay (as a joke) and hit me a few times - not dead hard though. I got away from it by becoming gay and making new friends ^_^ hehe

No offence but your school sounds crap. If your popular with your friends in my school then you don't care. I've left now but we never really had a "Popular group" we just had different groups altogether.

The "popular group" in my school are all chavs which is disapointing. Actually, I might still be above unpopular even if i ditch my mate cos I came form the primary school which all the popular chavs came from, and I still talk to em on occasion so might be allright!

I agree with dirrty ^_^ it does kind of seem like your using him too. So you can put up with the bullying and be popular or make new friends, be unpopular but loved :)

Lol? Tbh it sounds like you need to start living your life. And instead of being "popular" why not just be "unpopular" its not like anything to be ashamed of. Just go do other things instead, If people don't respect you for who you are why bother with them?

The exact same thing happened to me basically. Just stop going out with him and get someone else to muck around with. The guy I stopped mucking about with regretted it after he noticed he had no friends! :P

Hapendto me.. Lucky for me he just turned into a mosher and stop bothering with me as i found new freinds he still does it but not the much as we never see eachother...

My edvice is just to stop it imeadietly as if it gets worse.. The punching starts then the poking and then the skanting (pulling trousers) then the tripping up..
Not hapend to me but nearly.. And i seen it hapen to other ppl my advice
just say shut up. or somthing or just wherever he goes just go somwhere else..
