Is there anyway to get a PS2 (original version) to have a HDD (hard drive) without the network adapter and is relevantly cheap? Hopefully it isn't too much cause i really want one :D

edit: the "Network Adaptor (Ethernet/modem)(forPlayStation®2)" is what i want isn't it? (so i can use a hard drive)

+rep for help

Yea network adapters only let you play online xD
I think you get a memory card that has quite alot of memory but I think the max is 32mb, not sure, that's the closest to a HDD you can get with PS2

Yeah I think they're for only playing online , and as far as i know i dont think you can. Try an action replay memory card , they're quite big in memory I think.

It is rather complicated to get homebrew and games running off the hard drive, much more than the original Xbox. But if you keep trying you may be able to pull it off. I might get a pre-owned PS2 myself and try this...

You don't get PS2 hard drives...Network adapter is for ONLINE PLAY it has nothing to do with extra memory, just buy a bigger memory card

obviously you can

Installing the drive in the PS2. It's quite easy to install the hard drive, first you of course need the network adaptor and one of the compatible hard drives you find on this site. The important bit of information here is that the hard drive jumper settings needs to be set to MASTER mode. After that is taken care of, you just plug the adaptor onto the IDE connector on the hard drive and fasten the adaptor to the back of the PS2.

I mod consoles myself, I successfully Hardmodded my original Xbox & PSOne.

This is not hard at all. Its really really easy compared to soldering a modchip onto a consoles motherboard. I don't see how your PS2 would "Kaboom" unless you completely FUBAR up.

Pointless then? By the looks of it you need the network adapter so if you don't want that you can't do it can you
