Dear Mitchell:

On behalf of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, I would like to thank you for your e-mail regarding the environment.

Mr. Harper believes that Canada is the most beautiful country in the world, and that it is our responsibility to protect it. Only through a healthier environment can Canadians create the quality of life and standard of living to which we all aspire. That is why Budget 2007 invests $4.5 billion to clean our air and water, reduce greenhouse gases, combat climate change and protect our natural environment.

The Government of Canada's ecoAction Plan includes one of the most aggressive plans to tackle greenhouse gases and air pollution in the world, which will impose mandatory targets on industry to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 150 megatonnes by 2020, and air pollutants by 50% by 2015.

The Plan also provides support for renewable energy (wind, solar, geothermal); helps Canadians waste less energy; funds research and development of environmental technologies; and will help Canadians who wish to drive fuel-efficient, or low-emission vehicles.

Mr. Harper encourages you to work throughout your life to keep Canada clean and to do your part to preserve the natural beauty of our great country. For more information about the Government's environmental initiatives, you may wish to visit the ecoAction Web page, at www.ecoaction.gc.ca.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views with the Prime Minister on this important issue.

Stop shooting him down. What is wrong with this place now? He has made a forum for something that is actually worth while rather than a virtual world that has no real purpose.

I respect what you are doing, and i am sure with the right ammount of advertising you will have a good forum going there.
