It's not as simple as that, you have to be fit and pass loads of tests.

No it isn't always about the fighting, In the army you can improve team skills, build up ranks earning ALOT of money, Build your confiedence, Your fitness will improve greatly, You will learn more skills and get more qualifications (Easy way to get into the police force) You can travel around the world free of charge on army missions/holidays, You don't have to pay tax, Get a driving licence easy, You can get yourself a flat for £30 a week (Now thats small rent pay) Meet whole new people & make great friends.

All that and you get shot dead on your first day on the frontline.

The exam is to easy, Its about your british influence and random things about weapons and what you do in sticky situations, fitness test will be easy to pass, I can't wait until i'm 16/17 I'm going straght to their.

@Mattmeister: Lol, I doubt that will happen.

Getting fit is always fun, Down the gym for about 5 weeks, And revising for the test, I think anyone can pass, Actully its 1/9 who don't make it.

Im not, im saying that you would be alot safer working for the RAF or Navy. Afgan is also being compared to world war one and two.

Really?
you do know that in Iraq its mainly snipers and car bombs that are killing people, no action at all. Everything can be a bomb in Iraq, even a can of coke.

By joining the army it also improves your fitness. Not many people in the British army die.

People say that they will never get struck by lightining, some do though.
Do you want to take that chance.

Go for it, If you wanna risk your life for something you love then do it.
Your also making your country proud in the process.

Good luck in whatever you do.

I've been thinking about joining the air force, but i'm not sure if I want to or not yet.. it's either that or engineering, and i've not made my absolute decision yet.

I think most of you are being a little pessimistic tbh! So far, 159 British lives have been lost in Iraq. Yes - that's a lot, yes - even one life is too much but you're all like "yeah join the army and get shot to pieces " when the likelihood of that happening is very slim.
Joining the army is quite an honourable and brave thing to do imo, especially at a time like this. Good luck to you :).
I personally don't plan to join the army, but the job I want to do is serving this country and protecting it's people so yeah :eusa_danc

My cousin is in the army, he does 6 months in iraq and then 4months off. His two best friends got killed a few months back which wasn't very pleasant.

my boyfriend is in the army.

In one way its good and in others its bad... you get a good life experience, fit, get to see some great parts of the world (e.g. my boyfriend has been to canada for 4 months last year) and can be good pay after a while of being there and doing the courses etc. plus its a great laugh (I've been to my boyfriends army base a few times and had a good laugh with his mates every time I've been)

Bad things are not being able to be home as much and missing out on things at home, being sent to somewhere like iraq or afgan, the fact that you could be posted away from UK! (my boyfriend might be posted in germany later this year and usually they are there for 2 years until they get posted again I think).

So it really depends on how you feel about being away from friends and family and if you could ever handle having to be sent to somewhere like afgan. If you think you could then go for it!

Hope this helps
