Tables VS CSS

The first time I read it (well, only, lol) I learnt a few things I wasn't aware of (at this stage I had already preferred CSS over tables).

I will post some examples of layouts with no tables, just to show how simple it is (some are older than others, and thus my techniques might have been faulty): (Keep in mind, I designed none of these)

If you're still wanting to use tables, one good reason why you should keep using them, given all the pro's of using CSS.

Ahh, if only that were true. The websites kinda sales pitchy and kinda ignores alot of problems with css, for one within W3 standards padding and margins wont be effective against an empty div so you still end up haveing to shove a spacer in there to keep everything in the right place.
Plus who would use a 16 celled table for padding? table support none css padding anyawy 'padding="2"' etc

Plus all the problems that come about when you have to float everything to be able to put any css next to each other, especaly when you dont know which side could be longer, or want them positioned in a semi fluid way... its back to spacers again as well since css in many browsers also will ignore clearing from an empty div "/

I mean i like css and all but at current it still manages to be a complete pain in the *** if you try anything complicated within a tableless design "/

I agree to an extent. When I first started using CSS and DIVS, I came across problem after problem, primarily with positioning (floats, etc). But as I've practiced, I've eliminated most of them.

Some people just need to get past that first stage to realise how much better it can be.
