He is right, it isn't a very useful GCSE really, Graphics is the one you should go with if you are considering the whole art & design as a career.

Actually around my area if you want a Graphics career you need ART GCSE and ART A Level/AS Level. :S
My college wont accept you if you want to take Art A level unless you've got ART GCSE grade C+

Must just be your area (:! cus my art teacher basically told me when I was in year 9, don't take art if you want a career in it, take graphics instead, must suck for your area if you have to take it, cus the lesson is so crap and a doss.

My lesson's was never a doss. They were pretty decent tbh, though i suggest only take Art if your willing to put time and effort in otherwise dont bother.

Art/Drama/Music - they're all pretty useless.
Most top uni's won't take any of them at degree-level.

Art GCSE is only really needed if you want to get onto an art AS course without having to do an entry exam or portfolio.
However I managed to sell my exam piece for £100 and part of my coursework for a further £40, so did me alright really. It's a fun subject too as long as you take it the right way and can take criticism.

Im sorry but art is NOT easy. The ammount of committment to the subject is hard. I have finished it and getting my result tomorrow. I would sit in my room and do art 4/7 nights a week for 4-5 hours. You also do a 10hour GCSE exam.
DONT SAY ITS EASY UNLESS YOU HAVE DONE IT. IT IS FAR FROM EASY!

A lot of my friends took art GCSE and although they're good at art it wasn't easy. For the simple fact they put so much time and effort into it, probably more than any other subject. They didn't describe it as a "doss".

No, because it won't get you anywere.
Depending on what career path you take it will. Interior designer, architech's all need an art gcse. (+100's more)
I got a lvl 7a* in my year9 report which is the equivilant to an 8b but my school only wen to 7a* lol. And im taking it and its only easy if your good at it. People dont realise what it really involves.
