Hello,
I'm currently working on Version 2 of my Portfolio (2nd-design).
This is my first *FBF Website i've made/designed.
A Flash/Php Cms is being made by someone soon.
Well I won't hold you people up any longer, here's the link to the live preview:
- Click to visit - (http://www.2nd-design.com/projectV2/)
NOTE: You might have to wait a while becouse I haven't put a preloader on yet.
*FBF
FBF = Full Browser Flash, It is different from Full Screen or chromeless sites. With Full Screen sites, developers launch a browser window that takes over the user's entire screen, void of normal browser chrome (outer window elements) and browser controls. Full Browser Flash on the other hand, maximizes the Flash SWF embedded within the HTML to scale to 100% of the window, regardless of the browser's current dimensions.

Looks great so far, although the navigation puts it down for mea bit, it looks out of place compared to the rest of the layout.
Good luck with the rest.

Thanks,
Can you explain how it's out of place?
And any suggestions on how I should do the navigation then ?
Thanks ;)

I had to shut my blind to see that.
Far too dark - but looking nice.

Annoying.. :(

It looks chunckyer and flatter then the rest of the layout to me, maybe thin the borders of it.
I have 11 tabs open in FF and I can see the tabs perfectly

I'll see what I can do to make it look better.
Thanks for your C&C.

The reason why Blob may be able to see may be because he has no bookmarks

Reason would be that your screen is on Low Resolution compared to myn and Blob's.
My current resolution is: 1280x1024
ScottDiamond.
22-07-2007, 04:27 PM
Yes, but you should design for all resolutions. :)

Not one of your best Oli. I think your current design, and your old portfolio designs were better than this.

Actually I'm very pleased with this one.
(appart from a few things ofcource)
But my old ones before the current one, I really disliked them myself to be honest.

My main critisism is the lack of punctuation and capital letters. I wouldnt employee someone on that alone. It loose the professionality

Yeah sorry about that, its just to fill up atm.
I would double check the content once it's up.
You're right though.

I paid someone £20 so critise my site. He works in pulicity and things like that.
He pulled loads of my work apart. Just the phrasing, the things I said, etc, and it raelly did make sence. If you want, Ill try and find the guys contact info. Ive had alot more work since.
Defiantly worth it

Why would you pay someone to rate your own work. Waste of money imo?

I do not like it, your current one exceeds this one.

Yeah I know, I had a customer who'se site I had to build and before they delivered their content to me they sent it to a proffesional company who only keep themselves busy with Proffesional phrasing, texts etc.
It wos completely different, shorter, but more sufficient then what they had made theirself.
It is an important factor indeed.
I got about €1040 for their site :)
I prefer the other one. This one doesn't really suit the portfolio theme, the old layout suited all audiences where as if I a business and I visited this it may put me off.

True...
Maybe I'll design something new...
I'm just thinking out stuff.
Think I'm going to make a real clean one, light green & white/lightgray themed I think.

Why don't you make like a "Room"? I'm always impressed with that style of flash layouts. You can click on a folder which is lying on a desk in the room, for example, and it opens up a portfolio.

Yes. Yes I do.
Maybe, but I'll have to get some more practise on my 3D then.
I've done 3D before, but need it to be good befor I use it in my designs.
I quite like interface designs but I'm unsure whether it would be suitable, you really want a easy to use site that looks like much like you have now. I think interface designs should be used in certain areas for a certain effect eg an estate agent company may have a house where you can click buttons and it goes upstairs with posters on walls for information etc, the thing is what would you have? It wouldnt show your real skills as a 'traditional' layout designer? Which is afterall what people are looking for?
