View Full Version : What Would You Take With You?

Recently, on a street close to my house, there was a house fire. The owners of the house were away in another city, and lost everything in the house except for a few wardrobes and the contents of three cupboards. When they arrived back at the house they were devistated. They had lost virtually everything. Later that night, the upstairs exploded. The roof of the house was burned right through and only a quarter of the roof is left. The house is now considered potentially unsafe and is out of bounds for everyone. The house joined on to the one that set on fire also had contents damaged, but fortunately it was only a bath and the back of a bed.

Seeing this fire made me wonder. If your house set on fire, and you were in while it happened, what would be the one thing you would try and save before you exited the house? Please do not say your dog/cat/other pet or any living thing. Please just say objects. ;]

Nobody deserves to see their house burned down or to find out it has burned down. The people that lived there had only moved in at Christmas time and had not even settled in. The people in the house were nice people, and definetly did not deserve this.

Anyway, back to the thread. Post what you would take with you and if you can, perhaps why?

Thanks, Adam. ;]

I guess no-one expects house fires either, which makes it worse, I'd probably take this china woman dressed in pink, that spins around to a tune, it's really old, I've had that from my great-nan since she died, but if I was an adult, I'd probably take a purse or something.

Well my house now has a few places where a hose can be attached. We have these weird connector things next to each sink tap where you can connect a hose as we had a Tumble Dryer catch alight once. But if it was going to be burned down. Hmmm, my money, and aload of other stuff in a blanket so I can throw it out the window (I have a roof next to my window which i can climb down :D

If I was an adult I'd take insurance documents and then I wouldn't have to take anything, unless it was of a sentimental value.

id take my photos deffo; if they gone u can never get them memories back. but its not like id go on a hunt and dig all the photos out when the house is like burning, so in a real lfe situation, i wouldnt think of taking anything apart from myself!

True, and that's sensible, but I wouldn't be able to leave a burning house without something that meant alot to me.

I would take photos and money (only notes).

I would also take the car keys as that would be a place to put the cat as it's a house cat and we couldnt let it outside.
