View Full Version : Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

a few days ago I went to the rock and roll hall of fame in cleavland. there was a bunch of cool stuff and movies and history and stuff like that (but some dumb stuff too. why would i wanna see jim morrison's boy scout uniform?). they even had a recent-music section with a bunch of crap from paramore and mcr and all them and an exhibit on warped tour. i thought the inductees were interesting. some obvious ones, but some that were like "why are they in here?". anyways, for those that are unaware, it has to be 25 years from the date of your first album for you to be a nominee. here is a list (http://www.rockhall.com/inductees/inductee-list/) of all the inductees.
obviously, the question here is: in 25 next years time, who do you think will be in the hall of fame?
these are just my personal opinions, they aren't bias: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Nirvana and Green Day I'm almost certain will make it in. doesnt mean i want them all to, it just means i think they will

all of them would make it, along with bands like oasis, the libertines, the white stripes etc.
my chemical romance probably would unfortunately :/

Tbh the only band I could see getting it would be RHCP, Radiohead I havnt heard and dont really hear much about and I dont know anyone one who likes em so I doubt it , Nirvana hmm hard to say really, and green day ... I wouldnt really think to be honest. just my thoughts anyways

lozl. many people consider one of radiohead's albums the greatest album ever [link (http://www.starpulse.com/forum/index.php?topic=10388.msg148931;topicseen) link (http://pitchforkmedia.com/article/feature/36737-staff-list-top-100-albums-of-the-1990s/page_10) link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SilkTork/Q_Magazine_100_Greatest_Albums_-_2006)] and 2 of their other albums are considered one of the greatest albums ever. they'll get in. plus they're very influencial [see: the ridiculous amount of bands that have covered them] and thats also why nirvana will get in. green day will get in because it's impressive to be a popular band for nearly 15 years and still score #1 albums and singles. remember that multiple bands each year get in. its not all-exclusive.

ROFL. have you got your head buried in the sand or something? they're probably the most popular band in the whole world (maybe just behind the beatles).

I think it will mostly be bands that revolutionized music in their own way, bands like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters. And then some generally good bands such as The Kooks, Velvet Revolver, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand. And like RedStratocas said, I don't like all these bands, but I think they will make it in. And again, unfortunately it's blatently obvious MCR will make it in, unfortunately.
And Blink 182 will be very high up the ladder, they had a lot to do with changing punk to what it is today. Good Charlotte also, maybe?

they'll probably make it. if the last album sucked, it would be questionable, but it looks like they'll be making good records for a long time.

oasis [unfortunatly] will definitely make it in, Arctic Monkeys and Foos will probably get in. I doubt VR will get in though, same with Snow Patrol. Franz Ferdinand stands a chance. Blink will probably get in, but im not so sure about Good Charlotte.
What about The Beatles?
lozl, they're already in. actually, i think they're the only band who bypassed the 25 year rule.
Pearl Jam?
yeah, probably. they were part of the seattle scene.
Virgin Mary
27-07-2007, 05:56 PM
I think The Jam should be on there. But when/if MCR or whatever gets on there it's a void list.

they haven't been played on the radio much since OK Computer, and especially since The Bends because they've gotten very weird and radio-unfriendly. but, just as proof, go to the last.fm top weekly artists for all users (http://www.last.fm/music/). #3. and they haven't come out with an album in nearly 4 years. hell, one of their albums went #1 in the U.S., and didnt have a video or even a single, they did no promotion for it. you've probably heard some of their songs and not realized it. but when the new album [hopefully!] comes out later this year, you'll hear about it for sure.

lozl. i'm not trying to sound like an elitist hipster know-it-all, but radiohead really were the most important band of the 90's. even one of their albums from 2000 is almost unanimously considered the best album of this decade. Green Day will get in no problem. but Velvet Revolver? ehh. the Rock and Roll hall of fame is more about inspiration and critical acclaim, neither of which VR has. and I dont know enough about Iron Maiden to have an opinion, but looking at their popularity, it's a possibility.

idk. maybe. because axl and the rest of the band hate each other, the ceremony probably wouldnt go down so great.
& you guys will probably hear of radiohead once their next album goes to #1 on the charts (like their past 4 albums did:rolleyes:) when it should come out later this year.

Actually the rest of the band just hate Axl, not each other. Otherwise why would they be in Velvet Revolver together? :rolleyes_

just because you haven't heard of them, doesn't mean a thing. a lot of people haven't heard of guns n roses and green day worldwide. i'm not on about them being the most popular band on a teenagers forum (where most won't have been old enough to appreciate them) i mean out of everyone in the whole world.
oasis [unfortunatly] will definitely make it in
unfortunately? ):
they're a great band!!

Rage Against, Nirvana, Foo fighters, The Chillis, Aerosmith, Linkin Park (pretty certain on them, especially with their new song- best one to date in my opinion)

radiohead have to be inducted, they are the most important band of the 90s, growing with each album and trying such out there ideas. i'm exactly a huge fan of them but i have a a lot of respect for them.
why would mcr be inducted? in what way have they been groundbreaking or innovative?
i can understand WHY oasis would be inducted, i mean they were the biggest band in britain in the 90s but blur were/are so much more innovative, creative, talented and original. oasis bring out the same music each year, i can barelytell one song from another. they haven't made a good album in 12 years.
what's so great about linkin park anyway? ooo nu metal! such amazing music.

well their early albums were basically blown out of proportion ok computers. they're good but i wouldnt call them different. plus, they aren't nearly as popular in the U.S. as in the uk. i think the highest album on the charts theyve had here was 11.
blur should get in, as long as no one forgets about them. their only question is their influence.

Whoever said Franz Ferdinand, no chance.
Rage Against The Machine, most probably would.
Beastie Boys, I reckon.
Probably someone like Coldplay.
Possibly someone like The Killers too..
Metallica, if they're not there.

just a few.

they haven't been around long enough to get a good perception. if they're still as popular in 25 years, or come out with amazing albums, then maybe. but you can say that about any band.[/QUOTE]

oh im sure they'll be in, which is amazing considering they only have 3 real albums. even though they virtually created the tragedy that is nu-metal.
Beastie Boys, I reckon.
definatly.
Probably someone like Coldplay.
unless their next album is good, i wouldnt count on it. their last was okay, but not very... great? dunno how to describe it. its one of those albums i like, but if i were a critic i wouldnt give it a high score. because it was too easy.
Possibly someone like The Killers too..
again, only 2 albums in. and the last one was, lets just say, less than par.
Metallica, if they're not there.

yeah, but only one of them was truly acclaimed. idk. if they bomb for the rest of their career, it wont happen. i mean Boston had one of the best-selling albums of all time, but never had a good one since, and they havent/probably will never get into the hall of fame.
