Well there's a girl that I know, never really spoke to her much before. Got to know her through a mate, and the mate gave me her number. Last night was on the phone to her for 2 hours :O But I have decided I am beginning to quite like her. However I am 17 and she is 14. What do you think?

My dad is 15 years older than my mum (true), can you imagine a 28 year old going out with a 13 year old? While that philosophy works for people over 18, you have to put it into context.
To the thread starter: I think you're right to be conisdering it. I'm obviously not going to try to pursuade you either way, but you may want to conisder this: if you're together for a while theres a fairly good chance that you'll do more than just talk. Could you handle the consequences if you got someone that young pregnant?

It only seems different for adults because of their level of maturity.
There isn't much difference being say 30 and being 35.
Whereas it's a lot different to be 14 than say 18. (In terms of maturity and physically).

I'd say leave it out mate, you'll get known as a perv or something - i personally hate lads who go out with younger girls, i mean real younger, its very sick.

I would watch out for when your 18
girls normally want sex at 16. so.

Personally, i think age doesnt matter, it does sometimes, well, its easier to get away with it when your a adult. It sounds better.
Instead of you being the age you are now, but i'd go for it,
if you like her for her, not because of what age she is.
Ive been dating a older guy for 9 months now, people say things,
but it doesn't bother me anymore :]
btw, My mom & dad are 9 years apart.
Well I am almost 3 years older then my girlfriend, she is 14, and I turn 17 in September. But I think Spain is different, as I know 14 year olds who are going out with 19-20 year olds. But it's up to you really, follow your heart :D

when your younger and still at school people might question it but when your older e.g. 20 and 23 it doesnt matter so much.

Especially as questionable because you're over the consent age and she isn't. You realise, if you two had sex it would be classed as rape even if she consents? Apparently she won't be old enough to understand what consent means.

Its up to a personal opinion if you like her and she likes you don't worry what others think espcially her friends just go for it. :)
If you don't want her... Lol :P
Eccentric.
Go for it, I know loads of people that date younger girls, Well obv not like 20 and 13 but like 17 and 14 is fine.. Girls are generally more mature than males and 17 and 14 are like kinda the same maturity. My mum (back in the day) when she was 14 she dated a 16 and 17 year old..

right. Age difference is okay the guy i'm seeing in 6 years older than me. But theres a difference... I'M LEGAL. This girl is 14 and therefore not legal, you may say you will not have sex with her but people might think different. Stay on the safe side and stay away from her... and to be honest people 3 years age difference is NOTHING.

Seriously what are you about? Meyaz posted with a constructive opinion which she developed in order to try and benefit the thread creator in relation to their problem. If you feel she has perhaps been biased or not completely took into consideration the full concept of this problem - then thats a different story which you should have maturely expressed. However, you have completely undermined yourself and simply made yourself look like a fool to be honest.
I don't particularly see why you brought the fact that she is Scottish into anything as it is completely irrelevant and simply outlines your sheer ignorance. Also calling someone "hairy" isn't really an insult - but more than a feeble use of a word which you obviously think is going to offend people.
Quite clearly you have some sort of insecurity issue with yourself, as rather than trying to contribute to and / or develop this thread further by offering advice, you targeted one individual and made extremely petty, racist and damn right rude comments towards them.
Quite clearly from your small post we know exactly who the small-minded ignorant person is... Pal. :)

this doesn`t seem like a big deal.. maybe it`s just me seeing as i prefer older people due to feeling like i`ve grown up faster than most people my age so i can`t relate to them on an emotional scale `cuz of the difference in maturity..

And if her names nicole bain **** off
It's up to you.

What so it would be okay for an 8 year old girl to go out with a 47 year old man..
whoooosh
13-08-2007, 09:31 AM
I dont think there is anything really wrong with it. When i was 14 i went out with a 17 yr old. He used to get a bit of bother about it, like people saying he was a perv and stuff but we both knew he wasnt so it didnt bother us. If you trust eachother then you can get past stuff like age, 3 years isnt really that much if you respect her and her dicisions.

It may be a big difference now, but when you're both older it will seem like nothing. As long as you don't do anything in bed then you're alright - that could get into some legal rubbish.

Well, where I live that would be totally fine tbh.
I don't think age gaps matter, unless its like a stupid difference and in your case, this really isnt.
Whilst she's at school it can be hard though & make sure she doesnt go for you just for your age (if she does) because some girls are like that.
Take it slow though, she could feel under pressure because of the age difference too.
I'm 16, and my best friends boyfriend is turning 20 and they're a better couple then it was when she was with someone our age.
I've been out with someone 3 years older than me before and it was fine, I just personally wouldnt go there again just because I feel quite immature lol.
But really, I don't think there is any problem with the age gap.
Remember girls mature on average 2 years quicker then boys, and if you think about it like that you're theoretically only 1 year apart :D
Hope this helped matey :]

agh i went out with a 14 year old girl once... very immature..... beyond the normal joke around level
different people this girl maybe ok, age doesnt really matter when it gets down to it, just a number but i can't stand 14 yearolds way way way too immature

the older you get, the bigger the age gap can be. simply because if your older you're both classed as adults and have the same rights.

Well i guess 3 years difference isnt alot but... If its 14 - 17, then it seems a little peadoish.
24 - 27 seems good.
35 - 38 seems good too.
14 - 17 seems very peadoish, as she most likely hasnt fully matured.
Lolz

I know, I try not to think about it :P
I don't see the problem with it :S
My dad is 10 years older than my mum
I'm a year and 3 days older than my girlfriend
And both of those are fine, but if I was 3 years older than her that instantly makes me a pervert? How does that work?
It's not like she'd be a 7 year old (because that really is just wrong)
Don't listen to other people and be with the person you like, if they take the **** out of you for it then forget about them because they're not worth it, and in 10-20 years see them and see the difference in age between them and their husband/wife, you'll see most of them will be basically contradicting themselves

You do have a point, but you do have to put it into context. Your mum and dad met when they were adults (I hope) and planned to get married, have children and the such. When you're young and you obviously don't plan to get married, the reason for going out with people is to enjoy yourself and the time spent with another person. Enjoying spending that sort of intimate time with someone who is far younger than you, at that age, is wrong in the eyes of most people and, usually, the law.
my last relationship was 19 xD
So if your mum was 10, And your father was 20, You would find that okay, You need to think more in detail then just age.
But my mum isn't 10 is she, and she didn't know my dad then either
And what do you mean more in detail? The whole thing is about age, not every relationship is based on sex believe it or not
It aint that bad, just the fact she's underage..

Idk, tbh age in teen dating is a major thing.
Maybe for a girl thinking "omg I'm dating a 17 year old" at her age would be funny for her.. But it just wouldn't be the same. You got to look at it from the parents point of view.
Bit odd?
